Diaz Professional Painting

I never shared my experience because I'm not trying to hurt someone's business or reputation. If you had a great experience... great! He might be a great painter but not experienced with a cedar wall. Regardless, Felipe with Diaz Professional Painting has been difficult! This started in February and it's now November. At some point he could stop playing games and show accountability & responsibility. Please consider this review when hiring Diaz Professional Painting. I hired Diaz Professional Painting to refresh some cedar siding. Small job but it turned into a nightmare. The guy Felipe Jr. is very responsive at the start. He sold his work and came in priced super low at $709.31 to be exact!! Already too good to be true, my fault... I know! His contract was to remove old varnish and finish with Sherwin Williams Clear coat. He messed up the first time and left drip marks. I allowed him to redo the work. Started over, sand & prep... well he changed the agreed product. He put a completely different product & added color to my beautiful cedar. The finish went from clear to ORANGE/RED. I immediately texted the guy. He tried to say his work was done and his color selection was better than what I had. Furious, I messaged him, he came back the next day to correct the problem. At that point, he came back with his dad to fix the wall but threw in the towel when he couldn't remove the finish. He agreed to replace the wall and file a claim with his insurance. At the time he did not have insurance just a BOND. When he learned he would be paying back to the bond he made it difficult to collect & fix. His original proposal was two days. When I allowed him a third attempt on my wall he submitted a 2 day proposal, then a month later he changed the proposal to 4-5 days, REQUIRED 8 hour full days at my house. His proposal came with "conditions" for him to be successful at correcting his mistake. No experience and everything required research and contacting the paint vendor for guidance/research. I filed with the bond & CSLB. He bragged it would take long for the process. I decided to file small claims court. I won. Not what I wanted... just $1075. Again instead of just paying he wants to make it difficult. I plan to file the court decision with the bond for payment and report the decision to CSLB. By the way CSLB cited him for providing improper contracts. Anyhow our accent wall is a mess now... People have asked if it was a DYI gone wrong, pretty embarrassing but definitely a lesson learned.
