I hired this company after I found their information on signs outside of Home Depot and other nearby areas in Waldorf, Md. I looked them up and saw they had good reviews. There were not many reviews but the ones they did have were great. I contacted Sam Lanier who seems to be the owner. I explained that I had received a comment letter from Charles County regarding a permit application I submitted and needed help addressing those comments. I sent Sam everything I submitted along with the letter from the county so that he could let me know if he would be able to address what was missing and give me a quote on what it was going to cost me for his work. The comments/questions from the county were about the roof over deck and the deck itself. Sam charged me about $1700 to address all the comments and assured me this was within his realm of work and expertise. Needless to say that the county issued a total of 4 letters thereafter asking for what seemed to be the same information. Communication with him started out well and slowly dwindled down as the county kept asking for more information. Sam was able to address most of the roof questions./comments by drawing up some new plans but the county seemed to have additional questions based on what he was having me submit. Understandably, I became very frustrated because I didn't think my permit approval would be delayed for 4 months! The county even got on the phone with me and asked me if I was doing this on my own and when she heard I hired help it confused her because she felt that what she was asking for was clear and easy for a professional to address. Throughout my interactions with Sam, I learned he outsources the work to other professionals which further delays responses to the county. I eventually hired another individual to draw up the deck plans from scratch and correct the questions of the roof plan Sam had given me. I contacted Sam February 16th, 2024 with the latest (4th) comment letter and as of today, February 29th, 2024, he has not contacted me. I finally got my permit approved without the assistance of Sam and having to hire another professional to help. It took one week for my permit to be approved once I used the other person. I don't believe I deserve a full refund because Sam did do some drawings that needed further editing but I definitely deserve a partial refund because he did not provide me the full service we had agreed upon. His people were not addressing the comments from the county and he also refused to hire the person I ended up hiring to help clarify what they were asking for. If you are looking to get your permits approved with little to no delays and headaches from the county, I do NOT recommend Sam and his company. The lack of professionalism, communication and customer service is unacceptable. I ended up paying the other person $500 for their service which was what got my permits approved.
