The prior occupant of my house attempted to, (with evidently little skill) turn a small back porch into a fair-sized, fully enclosed room with Windows. The result is a cheap looking extension with a leaking roof, and with windows that collapsed with the wind (letting in rain, snow, and leaves) --a totally unusable space that was a complete eyesore. I could never lets guests even see my backyard out of embarrassment. Enter Larry the Done Rite Handyman (and certified construction specialist)! He saw that, underneath the botched project, was the potential for a great looking rosewood deck. Magically, this man (and his kind and diligent assistant) converted the eyesore into asset --one that I am now proud to show off to any guests that happen to stop by. And his bid to do the work was much less expensive than my prior bidder (who only offered much less satisfying patch-up job). BRAVO!

We love our new bathroom! We hired Larry to replace our fiberglass shower and floor with custom tiling. Larry and his crew were extremely professional and reliable. Before the process, we discussed our concerns regarding our 21 year old cat and he was very understanding and accommodating. He also fixed drywall on our bedroom ceiling and you can't even tell any work was done. We will definitely be using Larry and Done Rite Handyman and Remolding Services again soon.

Larry Barr is an extremely professional and trustworthy contractor. My daughter and I hired Done Rite to finish basement ceiling tiles and we received expert advice and service. We also had 3 rooms painted and are more than pleased. I could not ask for a more considerate and courteous work crew. Larry had no problem taking care of all of the other small jobs we added on. Superior Job Well Done!

Larry was on time, within budget and the work was excellent. Unlike many home repair companies, Larry was willing and happy to take on smaller 1 day jobs. I would definitely recommend him for your smaller home repairs. I had him do multiple jobs, including putting up a trellis in my garden.

Larry Barr's work was "above and beyond" on this project - Drywall install (ceiling), and wall repairs. His work was excellent, it was done in a reasonable amount of time and his post-work clean-up was thorough. We would (will!) hire Larry again; and we highly recommend his services.

This is my second review of DoneRite. Larry and his team completed a number of projects at my house including exterior trim repair, power washing, painting and caulking, deck power washing and restaining, and a complete kitchen remodel. All the work was completed to very high standards. The worksite was kept clean and work completed timely. Larry was also very conscious of work scope and keeping me informed of progress, issues, and additional work/repair. I have hired Larry to do multiple projects at my house and will continue consider/hire him for future projects.

I hired Done Rite for the cabinet paint job in my kitchen, they did a great job and i was extremely satisfied with the outcome. They took their time and didn't rush with the project. The clean up job after the completion was top notch also. Would definitely hire them in the future.

Larry replaced a damaged tile ceiling, took care of several aluminum siding issues with both replacement and repair, and even cleaned out badly clogged gutters (while on the roof inspecting flashing conditions) and did it for us at no extra cost. Very good work, very well done, very much appreciated.

Done Rite is great. Larry called back right away and showed up when he was supposed to. That may sound trivial but I haven't found that to be the case with a number of companies doing Handyman work. He showed me what he was doing, made recommendations and did the work agreed upon. I would definitely recommend him and am going to pass his name on to some of the people in my neighborhood.

Larry and his crew repaired some ceiling drywall and installed shutoff valves in hot/cold plumbing lines in my basement. They were very polite, always on-time, and professional. Plumbing repairs were completed in a matter of hours. Ceiling repair required multiple trips to mud/sand in order to get a paint ready finish. Larry and his team did a great job and cleaned up daily before leaving. Larry is a pleasure to do business with and will definitely hire in the future as more work is needed.

Deck, Fence, Patio or Porch - Clean and Seal
$1,000
Three stars because the work is very nice, but I am disappointed in the overall experience. Larry came to quote cleaning and sealing our deck and confidently told me it would require 6-7 gallons of stain. He told me to get a Behr semi-transparent stain - no mention of having it tinted. (I've never owned a deck; it did not occur to me that it needed to be tinted.) It would have been helpful to know this, even if it seems obvious to other people. He arrived right on time to begin work, but when he realized the stain wasn't tinted, I had to take it back to the store and have it tinted. (His exact instructions: Take it back and have it tinted, OR return it and buy one that is already tinted.) I get home with my 7 gallons of tinted stain, and then it doesn't work in his sprayer, and I feel a little bit like he is blaming the brand - which he told me to choose. Finally the work is done...and he only needed HALF of the stain. So I am stuck with about $150 worth of stain that I don't need. He told me "it may last a year in the basement" and then when he saw how not happy I was, he said it would "definitely last a year" and can be used for touch-up later. Then he told me that's why he always tells people to get already tinted stain, so they can return the leftovers. Well - not really, otherwise I would have done that and would be returning my leftovers today. So, good work, timely arrival, and I appreciated that he came out to do the estimate in the evening. That was very convenient. But the overall experience has bummed me out and taken some of the pleasure away from my beautifully stained deck. I was hoping this could be the start of an ongoing relationship, as we have a lot of projects and he does almost everything, but I don't think I would hire him again.

"I'll start by saying I try very hard to please every customer I work for, I will try to reply to each point made in order. I told her I thought 5 gal. would be enough but it's best to have some extra to avoid down time, and that she should get pre tinted stain and not the type you have to have mixed so that it can be returned. This is what I have told every customer for the last 20 years and am 100% sure I said the same to her. Yes I do have the customer get the stain as some people are very picky about what is used and also they can pick the color they want and the brand that best fits their budget. Plus I don't mark up materials like most contractors do to hide the fact they are padding the bill. I do not recommend one over the other she asked me and I said Behr made a good stain at a fair price (again talking about the pre tinted), I also tell them to talk the the paint/stain person at the store they go to. After power washing she texted me to say how great the deck looked so at that point she was happy. I show up the next day and everything is going well I blow off the deck and tape off the house then go to open up the stain which is the type you have to tint yourself and it's not tinted. I tell her and she ask if we needed to reschedule to which I reply no if you can go get it tinted or buy something else already mixed, she says ok. Then after about 10 to 15 min. she asked if I could run and do it, I say no I can't pick a color for you. I and my employee sit around with nothing to do for about an hour which I do not charge her for even though it put me behind on my schedule. I did have trouble with the stain which was foamy and thick (I never worked with or seen this before) I ask her to come out and look at an area we did to make sure so likes the look which she says it looks good. After trying the stain in my sparyer for another 15 min. I run out and buy (at my expense) another sparyer that works with that type of stain. After we are done and cleaned up I call her out and she says the deck looks awesome, she is very happy. I then tell her we have a lot of stain left over and her mood changes instantly and says what am I supposed to do with this, to which I tell her to keep it in her basement not the garage and it should last a year and they can use it next year for a touch up coat. I never changed my story or what I said. I am sorry she either didn't hear me or didn't rely the info to her husband (the person who went and bought the stain) and they have some left over. But agian if stored right it will last a while and can be used next year. And I am very sorry that even though we did a great job (her words) on the deck she now has bad feelings about the overall job. But I stand by my over all rating on this site and the hundreds of customers I help who are happy every year."

Larry, was on time, looked at the materials he needed to do the repairs, BEFORE, he put me on the clock. Did the sink project quickly, then asked if I could run to Lowe's to get a couple of materials, so he could start the second project, and save me time and money. Projects were completed in a very reasonable amount of time. Will make sure that everythings works, no drips, etc., but i am very happy with the job. Would call him again quickly. We were quoted almost 3x the amount of money from an off duty plumber. Thnaks Larry!!

Deck, Fence, Patio or Porch - Clean and Seal
I can't believe the 5-star ratings. He made a mess of my ceramic tile in the kitchen, uneven and grout cracked the next day.
Response from Done Rite the First Time, LLC
"It's hard to address this issue since no name was left and I am not sure which project this was or when it was done. We have not done a kitchen tile job in over a year, I do remember having an issue with one project back then though. The customer did not want to do a total removal of the old floor because of cost, they were informed of the potential issues of doing the project this way. They wanted to move forward anyways so we only removed 1 old layer of flooring and laid new down cement board and tiled along with grout. There was movement in the floor from having not removed all the old layers, we did make 2 trips back there trying to fix the issue. When we left the last time the customer was not happy but said they understood why it was happening. I do find it odd that they waited over a year to say anything, also we had done other projects at their house which they were very pleased with. We have been in business over 20 years and have 1 of the highest ratings on Home Advisors a along with other sites, I try very hard to make every customer happy and satisfied. Unfortunately when you have been in business this long and helped as many people as we have some times you can't please everyone. Like I said if this is the job the person is talking about it was over a year ago and it's the first I am hearing of it now."

Done Rite did a wonderful job refinishing my basement. I had drywall and laminate flooring installed as well as a bar. They enclosed the support beams and installed moldings. Larry had good ideas to share with me also when I wasn't sure what I wanted.
