Double Stud Construction, LLC

In October 2017, we gave Barry Lago, owner of Double Stud Construction, Inc half the money down, in cash, to replace the roofs on our home and detached garage with metal roofs. They finally showed up 8 months later, in June 2018, and removed the roof on our detached garage, and set 5 huge crates of metal in our side yard. After they left that day, I went out and looked at metal and it was the wrong color. We ordered charcoal gray and this metal was light beige. I called and they came back. He admitted that he ordered not only the wrong color, but the wrong sizes and the metal that was sitting in our yard would not fit our buildings. He would order the correct metal and be back in 3 weeks. Meanwhile, we had no roof our garage. We went through the entire summer of big rains and hail and now, snow, with no roof. He lied to us over a half dozen times; telling us he had our metal and would be over as soon as they finished their current job. We were told this for 4 months. He finally agreed to refund our money on Sept 24, 2018 and pick up the metal. He never showed or contacted us. He promised 2 more times that he would be here to give us our money and pick up the metal without action. We finally told them we were going to take them to court to get our money if they did not refund by October 17, 2018 and if they did not pick up the metal by October 22, we would consider it abandoned and dispose of it. This delayed two other projects we wanted to get done this summer, but the metal was blocking all of the work. We had dead trees to be removed and a pond to be dug out and redone. These were never done. Only after legal threats, did he finally refund our money and pick up the metal. He wired the money into our account provided on Wednesday October 17 and they picked up the metal on Monday October 22. It just snowed for the 3rd time this year last night with 8 inches of snow on our garage with no roof. In the beginning, we were giving Barry the benefit of the doubt, but we learned by the end, that he lied to us the entire year and had no intention of putting a roof on our buildings. He could have told us the truth months ago and we could have gotten a roof on our garage to prevent the water damage that has occurred and a new roof on our home. But he chose to lie instead. It wasn't until threat of lawsuit that he finally gave us our money. I also challenge the other "reviews" of this company as they were all submitted on same day. I suspect fraud as the reviews on BBB reflect the same experience as ours.

They are very easy to work with, they did a lot more than just my roof but any time I had a concern they were readily available at anytime to get my needs taken care of. For the price they do a great job.

They were very thorough and clean. They didn't cut any corners and they even put in some extra vents that I wouldn't have known that I needed.

They were exceptionally tidy, they didn't leave so much as a nail or any tr4ash when they were done. They were fantastic!
