The house was built in 1887 as a duplex. The old floor joists were separating from the cap causing the house to sink. The old home was built upon rock piers so it was showing on the outside and looked bad. I've done all the previous work on the house myself but do to my age and health I had to sublet the work. I was worried about the cost, having never subbed any work before and being on a fixed income to boot. They showed up on time and left about 4 hours later with the work completed to my satisfaction. I've already recommended them to my nurse and others. These guys were significantly cheaper than the other contractors with an extra beam placed under the house too. I will definitely be using them on other projects needing attention as I can afford them.

We are very pleased to have found Dowdy construction through HomeAdvisor. This is the second time to use HomeAdvisor, and both times we have been quite pleased! Dowdy installed two exterior doors, one with a sidelight, repaired rotted brick molding outside, repaired inside window sill damage, caulked an extremely large rounded two-story-sized window, moved a light switch, and replaced a rotted board under porch roof - all in less than a day! And mainly just one person, except for moving the very heavy new front mahogany door/sidelight. They were professional, friendly, responsive, listened well, did excellent work, charged very reasonable rates, and completed the job quickly. Impressive! They also gave great suggestions for saving money on some other projects. We plan to hire them again in the near future. We give them high recommendations.

They have been great, they have done a variety of projects for us including fixing sub floor, tiling floor, tiling the shower, new drywall, painting, painting cabinets, etc. Very easy to work with, we are still working together and plan to continue to do so in the future.
