Basement - Remodel
$80,000
Working with DHC started out great, but towards the very end of the project, a pipe burst in our home because of their mistake--one they didn't take full responsibility for. When moving our dryer, they left the old dryer vent in the wall and covered it up. During a cold blast, this let in cold air and caused our pipes to freeze and burst. The resulting flood required replacing the brand new floor they had just installed. DHC was responsive and sent out a crew to help, but when it came to taking financial responsibility, the owner, Presley, pointed fingers at everyone else. He blamed the HVAC company we were working with (saying it was their oversight), claimed the issue was not in the contract, and said it was simply due to the cold weather. In our minds, someone on DHC's crew created this insulation problem (detaching the vent but not removing it or sealing the hole) and drywalled over it, then failed to inform the HVAC company about the issue. DHC offered to split the repair costs with us after suggesting we file an insurance claim. Why should we file an insurance claim if it was their wrongdoing? Isn't this why contractors have insurance? We ended up splitting the cost 3 ways with the HVAC company and DHC just to get the project finished and get them out of our house. We feel a responsible contractor would have accepted responsibility and paid for the full cost of this oversight. Besides this, other parts of the work had to be re-done, such as some bathroom tiles and a leftover hole in the bathroom floor. It didn't feel like DHC was really around to oversee the project and their subcontractors carefully. Instead, we were the quality control, which defeats the purpose of hiring a contractor. While we liked working with the project manager, the owner Presley didn't take responsibility for mistakes, leading to significant financial and personal stress. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend DHC and won't hire them again.

The owner of DHC, Presley Armstrong, is the best communicator that weâ  ve ever encountered. He replied immediately to every message from the start of the project to the end. We did a complete master bath remodel and we are very, very pleased with the final result. The work was done on time and Presley followed up on every detail until we were completely satisfied. We recommend Presley and his company, highly and have already recommended him to family members.

Presley and his crew laid a 30x15 concrete slab on our back yard. They performed prompt, quality work at a competitive price meeting our difficult time frame with almost no notice. It was tough work as we previously had a deck there with many posts as well as 2 over 12'' thick concrete slabs from the stairs of the prior deck that they busted up with ease and hauled away. Great crew.

We hired Dream Home and Presley for a complete kitchen renovation, refinishing of hardwood floors and fireplace renovation with stacked stone. Presley and his crew were very professional, courteous and showed up on time. They brought a positive attitude every day and completed the work on time and we are very pleased with the results. Our kitchen looks awesome! I would definitely recommend Presley.

I initially thought Presley was wonderful and the remodel was going great. Then, my cooktop exploded on me three times and his explanation was user error. Turns out his people installed the cooktop for natural gas, rather than propane, which they were fully aware of as they had to run a propane line to the kitchen for the cooktop. By not knowing what he was doing, he put my family in extreme danger. It is extremely fortunate that no one was hurt during the gas explosions. Furthermore, they replaced wall outlets and switches, and now some switches have lost all functionality, while others will only work if one is on in another room. Also, the kitchen itself is not standing up to proper wear and tear as I would expect. I would not recommend this contractor to anyone.

Presley called me almost immediately. He was very attentive and quick to respond to emails. He and his crew were on time and prompt, and did a great job. They finished everything in less time than we anticipated. Since we were out of town while they worked, they sent me pictures every day to show the progress, and were very thorough and honest with any issues that arose. I'd recommend them to anyone!

My house was left completely torn up. Now my floors are warped and my walls are torn up.
Response from Dream Home Creations
"The homeowner changed the scope of work from what we originally agreed on. I accepted the change and redid the ceilings at no additional charge In an attempt to provide good customer service. She then claimed it still wasn't what she asked for even though I have it in writing that she was happy with the texture and ready to do the final walkthrough. This is a clear attempt to get out of paying the invoice. She then refused to pay us so we packed up and left before we were done cleaning the house. My attorney is currently filing a mechanic's lien against the property in an attempt to collect this debt."

They were great! Able to make a bid, schedule the work, and finish the job faster than most competing companies could even make a bid! The job came out well, and they were ready to quickly correct the couple minor issues found while walking the completed work.
