We contracted with Mike of Dutch Built and his partner Bill Stearns on the recommendation of our architect, whom we respect and trust. Although they had the highest bid (at just under 40k), we went with them in the belief in paying good money for good work. Unfortunately, thatâ s not what we got. The highlights: -they demoed our bathroom despite the fact neither were licensed to perform work in Milwaukee and therefore could not pull a construction permit. We were told they could properly pull a permit and this lie cost us weeks. -they hired an inexperienced and unqualified tile subcontractor in an attempt to pad their profits. We expressed concern about the subâ s work from the moment he constructed a shower pan that was not square. We were assured his work would be perfect. Fast forward to the completion of the floor and it looked like a lousy DIY job. But Mike and Bill said and did nothing to address this defective work until we insisted on it. -consistently keeping an unsafe workplace, including leaving our backyard littered with dangerous demo materials, including rusty nails. We found a loose straight edged razor in our guest bedroom that they commandeered as a staging zone for the bathroom. Both posed risks to our dogs; fortunately we donâ t have children who could have been seriously injured. They left grout stains on our 150 year old hardwood floors that we had recently spent thousands of dollars to refinish. -they broke our double vanity in the process of moving it into place. First they baselessly suggested it could have arrived broken. Then they blamed the quality of the construction, despite the fact it was a $3k Pottery Barn vanity. -they failed to familiarize themselves with the design of the vanity (which was on site when they bid the work) and did not adjust the plumbing when the vanity wall was exposed. As a result, they chopped up the vanity to accommodate the plumbing after the fact. -they failed to timely line up a subcontractor resulting in significant delays. We are currently 20 weeks into a project we were promised would be completed in 10-12 weeks. We were recently informed it would be at least several more weeks before the project would be completed. Mike misrepresented the time the project would be completed in in order to induce us to pay them the final payment before it was contractually due. He then attempted to wash his hands of the project, claiming the tile subcontractor would handle all remaining issues. 20 weeks after demo we still donâ t have a working shower, we donâ t have professional finishes, and we have not had inspections lined up, let alone passed. Mike is now attempting to hide behind supply chain issues despite the fact everything was on site before work began. Notably, when we followed up with them this week for a status update, Bill mistakenly replied to us with a text meant for Mike. He was joking about waiting until the end of the week to even look into an issue on a project that was already twice itâ s promised completion date. I wouldnâ t wish a Dutch Built and Bill [Provider Last Name Removed] upon anyone. They are unprofessional, duplicitous, corner cutters. Beware

Excellent carpentry work. Mike worked on a kitchen remodel for us which included rebuilding the basement stairs. He also installed windows and front and back doors for us. Mike is great to work with and does exceptional carpentry work. We would highly recommend him!

Mike did a great job framing out a number of new walls in a house remodel. He also helped us with some finish carpentry installing some door and window casing as well as baseboard and installed some kitchen cabinets.

Mike is an honest contractor and has my full confidence in that he takes our best interest into consideration when making project management decisions. We are very happy to have hired him and have nothing but positive experiences to share.
