E Squared Contracting, LLC

In March 2021 we gave Ernest Erb of E Squared Contracting LLC a $25,000 deposit to be put on his schedule. Work on our garage conversion was to start late July. We continually tried to contact him and our messages would be ignored. Days & or weeks would go by before he would respond. He always told us he would start in 2 weeks, but didn't and would ignore our requests for an update. On 11/10/2021 we sent a letter of demand to return our deposit since no work had even been started nor had he apparently applied for permits even though we had previously asked about the permits. He continued to ignore us. Once he received the letter of demand, he sent a text stating I will have to move some money and get your check in the mail. As of today, 11/29/2021 he has not sent us the money and continues to ignore any contact to resolve this matter without having to escalate it. We have copies of the receipt for our deposit, texts and email communications. We are senior citizens on a limited income and feel very disappointed and victimized. I needed this remodel to accommodate my increasing limited mobility.

I have updated this review bc less than year later, the improperly installed James Hardy siding that was fixed incorrectly by Ernie using caulk instead of replacing the boards that should have been replaced (when I pointed out the installation was not correct) is already coming off. I am a widow who spent a lot of money on this and now have to get something fixed already, I am even more sad & disappointed. PLEASE READ the rest of my review-I have pictures to prove these things also. I really like Ernie as a person and believed him when he said he always makes things right-he did not!! I hired him with the understanding that he knew how to install James Hardy siding properly. As I saw it installed and the boards left out in the rain, I started researching and saw that the work was not being done correctly. Big gaps, little gaps, uneven areas and siding was not tight. I frequently had to show these things to Ernie and express my concerns that the way it was being installed was not going to last and some of the work was just sloppy. I believe part of the problem was that he is not doing all the work and he does not go back and check the work that others, employed by him, are doing. The work of those under his direction was sloppy, not installed correctly as per James Hardy siding regulations, and just not installed securely. Very disappointed that I had to be the one to constantly point out all the problems and do research as to proper technique. I chose him initially bc reviews said he ALWAYS makes it right, he does not. He admitted that one side of my house was not done properly, but refused to take it down and start over bc said it would cost too much money and take too much time and he had other jobs to do. Stated he would fix it, make it look good. That was not my concern, I paid a lot of money and wanted it to last and be done right. The siding was initially done so poorly, that you could put your hand underneath the siding and pull up on it indicating there was no tight seal. I had to point out the different sizes of gaps, pieces that were not straight, and extra nails hanging out of the siding. He did go back and tighten things up, so aesthetically it does look better right now. They also never finished putting lights back up or installing doorbells so they would work. Left lots of mess also. I often had to wait months for things to get completed bc company was busy with other projects. I just felt people should know about poor quality of service. Very disappointed that things were not made right. He could have saved me as a customer if he had just MADE THINGS RIGHT like he has advertised. I, unfortunately, will never use his services again despite having previous plans to do so.

Ernie is honest, professional, experienced and pleasant to work with. He helps you to dream and then make the dream come true. His talents include almost anything you would want to ask home advisor about. His crew is currently doing a deck project for us, and our upgraded bathrooms are beautiful. We got referrals from Home Advisor and we got bids from 3 HA contractors. His bid was the best value. TOP RECOMMENDATION FOR ERNIE!

We hired Ernie to redo 2 bathrooms - floors, vanities, backsplash, toilets, and shower surround. He and his team did an amazing job! On time, reasonable prices, and professional...also very patient, since we had a few supply issues. Will definitely hire again!

Ernie installed a glass door we bought that wasn't the correct size on our shower and made it look like it was made for the shower, great job!

We had a big job -remodel 2 bathrooms (including new shower, new floors, vanities, sinks, toilets, lighting and building a linen closet), laid new flooring in entry, kitchen, breakfast room, laundry and 2 bathrooms. Many varied jobs - Ernie has a huge variety of skills and did great work on each challenge. Will happily call on him again! Thanks Ernie....
