Concrete Driveways - Install
$15,000
I try to be nice to these people but they disappoint me and the trade in so many level. They are highly careless and unprofessional. They poured the patio and drive way but they did not do any gravel compaction .. they said it was not in the quoted price ( ok lesson learned on my end) , they claim they poured fiber concrete but it definitely not fiber concrete, they told me permit was needed for my job but i have been made aware that the county does need permit because of the high square footage of job, the craftman ship itself is horrible there is a billion places with imperfections, the stucco job is a joke.. the quote says they would put a mesh on my wall but they did not do that? the stucco job is horrible!!!! There are holes ans cracks everywhere!!! They dis not even stucco places underneath the window ledgers?. They whole point was to seal all the cracks to prevent water intrusion but those cracks are left untouched.. and when it snowed the concrete chipped all over the surface

Complete SCAM! Jack McFee is s rip-off artist, and his buddy Jake Stewart is just as bad. Hired them as East Coast Contractors for a bathroom & kitchen renovation back in July, they charged me for demo work which was never fully completed (debris left everywhere that I had to dispose of myself), charged me for materials I never saw (cabinets, fixtures, etc), and then charged me extra for permitting that was not covered on the contract. They had no intention of permitting, because they had no intention of actually doing the job correctly. Im into them for $30k now, and my house is wrecked where they cut floor joists & exterior supporting wall studs unnecessarily, to the tune of another $21K to another licensed contractor to fix. I have photos to prove it. Complained to the MHIC to find out that Jack McFee has several bench warrants for his arrest for multiple instances like this, & his license was suspended in late Nov 2025. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!

DO NOT USE-Worst experience and waste of money and time. Luke-sales Jake and Jack. Our driveway, after 9 months, is cracking and breaking. We had issues before , cracks, etc, addressed with Jake and resultions take time. After resolutions, more cracks appeared. Process started in April of 2025. After much money confusion on thier part, they poured our driveway at 6:00pm June 11, 2025. Ran out of concreate, they went to Home Depot to get more. Concrete trucks cleaned out their mixing drums in front of our house leaving a trail of concrete on the street. There were areas that needed to be fixed. Sent out a guy who parged. Looks horrible. On top of all of this, they left such a mess. See photos. Very disappointed for the amount of money we spent to have a new driveway look like it has been installed years ago. They are very slow to respond to many concerns and really do not want anything to do with us. In the end, follow up is not customer first. Now we are stuck with an ugly driveway

Synthetic Stucco - Repair or Partially Replace
Stop! Do not contract with this fraudulent company. They contracted with us to renovate our veranda. The first phase was demolition. They did the demolition and then it took weeks to get them to remove the hazardous debris. They finally removed the debris and we proceeded to move forward with phase 2, the acquisition of materials. After payment no materials and after many calls, no response. The GM, Chris Fischer, with whom we worked with on the scope of work and estimates, told us he no longer works for the company. We contacted MD and their license is suspended, they do not occupy space at the address given, and we are moving forward with a formal complaint and lawsuit. Save yourself the loss and headache

Concrete Flatwork - Repair & Resurface
The contractor came to my house and met with me to review my project (new driveway). They took measurements, walked through the plan, gave me a rough estimate, and said they would contact me with more details. Within a few days, they called me and said they had confirmed the estimate and would send me a contract. They sent me a document outlining the scope of work and cost, which specified a $2000 deposit, which I paid. I did not hear back from them immediately, but when I called sometime in the following days, the guy I spoke to (Chris, who gave me the original estimate) told me that he was waiting for the permit to be issued. Fast forward to February, and I have not heard anything from the contractor since September. I called the Montgomery County Planning office to ask about the status of my permit and was told there is no record of a permit request being filed. I attempted to call the contractor (both Chris ' cell phone, again the guy I spoke to, and the company listing on Yelp) and found the lines to be not available/straight to voicemail.

Deck or Porch - Repair
I signed a contract $10,000 for Deck Repair. For another $500 they were going to do the railings on the other side of our deck so that everything would match. I gave them a deposit of $3300 on my credit card and it went through as Maryland concrete and paving on 11/3. on 11/13/25 they ask for more money. I gave them a check for $5000 payable to East Coast concrete and they made it payable to Maryland concrete and paving. On 11/20/25 upon completion of the job they sent me an invoice for $2500 that also went through as Maryland concrete and paving. However, when I looked at my credit card charge. I noticed an unauthorized charge on 11/18/25 to East Coast concrete for $2000. All of these amounts total to. $12,800 creating an overpayment of $2300. When I realized this, I contacted Jack McFee right away and to this day, I am still waiting for the refund. His emails are now undeliverable and he is ignoring my text. I contacted Angie's list as well. Now I see this on the website see pic

Ugh, they took 1800. To start 400 100. 1,000 1500. To buy materials, mouth later drop it off, mouth later put the floor down. Never came back. My bank is doing well when I call; they have picked up. If they say they are coming they done their name is Jack.

Deck or Porch - Build or Replace
This project is NOT going well for me. I initially met with an East Coast Concrete (ECC) sales/design representative named Jake on 23 August 25, to replace my old wooden deck with a Trex composite deck. I liked the design and ECC's portfolio of completed deck projects, and so I contracted with the company for $9,000 for a new deck. I paid a $3,000 deposit at that time (23 Aug 25). I submitted the new deck design to my Association's Covenants Committee as required and ccd ECC as requested. The project was approved by the Covenants Committee on 16 September 25, and I notified ECC by email and text message on 18 September that the project was approved and work could begin. Two ECC employees arrived on 25 September 25, as scheduled, and tore down the old deck to the frame. The workers were very professional and did a good job; however, they did not have a truck and said they would return later to remove the debris. They never returned, and I eventually had to pay another contractor $500, which I made ECC aware of, and the owner, to his credit, said he would make good on it to remove the debris. That contractor removed the debris on 30 September 25. ECC was supposed to do work on the project on 29 September 25, but did not show up. They were then scheduled to come out on either 2 or 3 October 25, but did not show up. I did receive a call from Jack, ECC;s owner, that they would be out on 6 October 25, to do work on the project, and two ECC employees came out and replaced some deck boards on the frame and installed new wood board inserts in the frame in preparation for laying the new Trex planks. Those two workers were very professional and did a nice job, for which I made the company aware; however, they left behind the debris from that job, as they were supposed to return the next day or two to finish their work. However, they did not return, and the debris is still there. During this period, between late September and the first week of October 25, ECC charged $4,500 to my credit card, which I later found out was to complete the purchase price of ALL materials required for the deck rebuild. ECC was next scheduled to do work on the deck on 16 October 25, but it was another no-show. After the work performed by ECC workers on 6 October 25, no other work was completed on the deck until 24 November 25, despite numerous attempts to work with ECC and get the job scheduled and completed before then. When I received responses from ECC, the company offered a litany of reasons why it couldn't schedule the work and could offer no timeline for when my job would be completed, even after my job was next to be done according to ECC. I would also note that the work performed on 24 November 25 consisted of the installation of the 12 posts in preparation for the new railing and was performed by a single ECC employee. He did a good job, which I have actually come to expect; however, the debris was left behind, which I have also unfortunately come to expect. As of this submission on 10 December 25, I have not heard back from ECC regarding the status of this job or when I can expect completion, even though I have reached out to the company. I have been more than patient, have tried very hard to be flexible and work with the company through its challenges, all with little positive result for me. This is UNSATISFACTORY, and I'm very disappointed that Angi referred ECC to me as a reputable contractor.

East Coast Concrete or East Coast Contracting. Contractor Jack. Our last conversation I promised I would send in an unfavorable review if I received no communication and no progress. So I guess ECC does not value its' reputation. In a nutshell. ECC was contracted to repoint a 3-story rowhouse. To say progress has been slow would be an understatement. Contract was signed and approved on June 26, 2025. December 17, 2025, 6 months later I am still waiting for word, a completion date or any interest in completing this project. The job was basically left in a stand still, after the first visit. I was left with an industrial size bag of garbage in front of my home. A friend informed me a rat was scrounging around the bag. And yes, one was inside my house. I had to pay 1.800.Got Junk to remove the bag. Numerous texts, calls, pleas and for the most part of I have been ghosted. My last text was on November 20th. Angie if is this is how you run your business, I want no part of it

JACK McFEE, owner of East Coast Concrete, is FRAUDULENT and DECEPTIVE. He charged our credit card WITHOUT authorization and without doing work. Jack McFee is UNPROFESSIONAL and DISHONEST. Better Business Bureau assigned an F rated to the company. Dept of Labor Licensing and Regulation (dlr) and Maryland Home Improvement Commission SUSPENDED their license. Related businesses are Mid-Atlantic Concrete and Improvement. LUKE SCHEFFENACKER i?estimator, project manager?) s part of the scheme. One person named Alvarez started work and left abruptly smuggling his tools out of our house and telling us he was going to get lunch. He never returned. Trash was left in our front yard, ANGI should remove Jack McFee from this site before he scams someone else. Jack McFee is a con man, swindler, impostor!
Response from East Coast Concrete LLC
"Well, nobody charged your card without permission that is a new one see in our contracts we have 3 payments correct 1 when you sign the contract then you have a bridge payment when work begins 1/3 then when the job is completed 1/3 on the phone we asked if it was okay to run card replied ?yes? see we see this project differently showed up on your time which was Friday. We worked all day there. Then Saturday we did not work as it?s an optional day for the crew members worked on Sunday."

Concrete Flatwork - Repair & Resurface
The contract was 14,500, but I asked to get permits, so it went up to 15,500. Cement was finished on August 8th. I was told I had to pay 4,000 more. On the 8th, they blew fuses about 5-6 times. On August 13, I went to get stuff out of our freezer, and everything was bad. Called Jake right away, he said they will pay 500 for the lost food. August 29th, they finally came to pick up all the garbage after many phone calls and texts. Before they started, I asked if they had permits they said yes. I had a fine sent to us cause of the mess they left. I spoke to David (Code person), and he said the fine will go to the East Coast, not me. I asked about permits, and he said there was no permit from Bowie nor PG County. So I asked Jake for the 1,000 back. I called/talked to Jake many times about the guardrail that has to be put up cause of the height of the driveway. Around the 2nd week in September, Jake stopped answering me. Found out he was fired. Got a hold of Jack, Jake's boss. Jack said Jake didn't tell him about what was happening and owed you me. Finally got the guardrail up on September 20th. He was supposed to take the remaining garbage with him. I still have it on my property. Jack has told me he was coming on September 22nd or 23rd to bring me my money. A few days later, Jack said, " I will take care of it, will have a day shortly. This was your wrong money, and clean up the last few things. October 13, he said I will have Chris bring you your check and remove the stuff. October 14th. 18th and 26th Jack said, you dont have it, On the 26th, he said, I will be out tomorrow. If you're not home will leave it in your mailbox. Chris called me on November 18th and asked if I got the check. I said no, he said take the remarks down you posted about the East Coast, and you will get your money. He said Jack and I agreed to take it down. I said I have not talked to Jack since September 24th. I called Angi on the 18th, then put a review online just a couple of hours before Chris called me. I have all the text messages from Jake and Jack. Update as of 02/25/2026 Got the job done August 2025 , driveway is chipping away in a 18"×18" square. There has been many problems but this is the newest one. Others did not get solved.

Concrete Driveways - Install
Terrible Contract Signed: 9/18/2025 6:10:11 AM for $11,500.00 to replace the driveway, patio, and porch. Listed complaints. ECC started on Monday, Sept 29th, 2025. They removed the old driveway, porch, and sidewalk. EEC piled the broken concrete at the end of what was to be the new driveway. I believe that not seeing the elevation with the pile in the way caused the hump in the driveway. Wednesday, Oct 1st Evening, Anne Arundel County (AAC) posted a sign No parking from Friday, Oct 3rd to Wednesday, Oct 8th. I texted ECC at 9:53 pm the notify AAC were doing road work. Friday the Oct 3rd, AAC patched the road and completed work by 08:56 AM. I texted ECC that AAC completed the work and left, taking the signs. Friday the 10th, 12:57 PM. I texted ECC concrete and asked when they were coming back. I received a long text basically saying they started another job. No ETA Thursday, Oct 23, 5:15 PM Asked again, when are they planning to come back out? Monday, Oct 27th, ECC. With the pile still in the way, ECC had ordered the delivery of concrete. Started pouring the concrete. I believe this led to a bump in the middle of the driveway. Even the neighbors commented on the very noticeable bump. The bump causes my cars front end to drag when it's backed up into the driveway. (Picture). Monday, Nov 3rd, Sent ECC list of 8 pictures of issues. I had other concrete installers over to get estimates to seal the concrete, and they pointed out some bad practices and improper installation. November 7th, 2025, Phone call saying they would be out next week, Nov 10-Nov 14. As of Nov 21, 2025 no communication on when they will actually be back out. Notice that people left the chat set up for communication when I sent a question mark.

Had a contract to have our driveway replaced. On the last day I was told I need to pay 4,000 more. Took about 4 weeks before they came to remove all the broken up concrete. Payed to have permits they never got them. Lost a freezer full of meat do to them blowing fuses. Been asking for money to be returned since August 12th. Been told many times they are bringing it to me. As of November 18th still no money. It is very hard to speak to someone.

DO NOT hire East Coast Concrete LLC. When I looked at what they declared to be finished, significant areas had not been touched. This happened 3 times. Twice, they went back and completed the sections to my satisfaction. I'm writing this review only because the 3rd time, after receiving full payment and after making several documented promises to return, apparently, they have no intention to show professional pride or integrity by completing the work. On Sep 3, 2025, I hired East Coast Concrete, based on an Angis referral, to repair various areas of my exterior walls and front porch and to install new support columns on the porch. Several contractors have shown my weakness areas, and I identified these areas as primary concerns to Luke S., who wrote the contract and also acted as the crew leader. This section is not finished. The job was scheduled to take 3 days. Luke mentioned other jobs were on the schedule and said he was hopeful my job would be done in 2 days. When I inspected my exterior wall, only the right side was done. Luke insisted that this was the only area we discussed. That wasn't true. To his credit, he brought the crew back to repair the left side. On day 3, I inspected my porch only to see spots that were missed. Another crew was called to finish the job. I was satisfied, and I paid them. Two weeks later, I had work done on my roof. The roofer pointed out areas on and around window arches that had not been repaired. At that time, I was trying to get my exterior walls painted before it got too cold, but I couldn't proceed because my walls still wasnt ready. Sep 23, 2025, I sent a number of text messages to Luke and Jack M, the company owner. My initial text was a photo of the incomplete work. Jack's response was We got you covered, let the rain pass, and we will take care of it.. Sep 29, after several sunny days. Jack assured me that I was not forgotten. On Oct 7, I told them I was preparing to submit a negative review. Jack answered that a crew was coming at 8 am, Tue, Oct 21, 2025. That was the last time I heard from East Coast Concrete. I do not trust East Coast Concrete to finish the job properly and would like a refund of $700.00

Shoppers beware, this company has 11 bad complaints in the last 3 years according to the Baltimore license bureau, and my complaint will be number 12, and should not be in business, seriously folks , they cheated me by not using gravel under the concrete and no expansion joints, when asked to redo the driveway, they put me on the back burner for 2 months, work performed in August of 2025, when they decided to finally come out, they ripped up my driveway and apron and left all the debris in my yard, after 2 weeks of calling them to remove the debris and getting every excuse they can give, along with broken promises, I had the debris removed , more money out of my pocket, here is November 2025 and they still will not come out and take care of this issue, the owner of this company Jack will not take phone calls , and when he decides to return your calls , very irritating, he does not honor his warranty and you will be ignored very bad company to deal with

"Leaving out a lot of key details such as you were responsible for the permit, you didn?t apply for the proper permit had us perform the work MARYLAND DOT AND THE CITY OF LAUREL ALSO SAID THAT WAS THE PROBLEM WE WERE AT THE MEETING AS WELL so either which way the driveway couldn?t go onto your property. But honestly we were completed as a contract says you are responsible for the permit. We showed up to work and you and your wife screaming at our crew members made them not want to return."
