Write a ReviewSmooth inspection tech was professional and thoroughly explained findings and what was needed to correct issues with chimney.
Performed a chimney repair job - mortar replacement. They only worked an hour and showed me a video of the mortar work, which was just an inconsistent application, sloppy and porous patch work job. You can't patchwork mortar and the mortar can't be porous or it will crack and leak. You have to do the entire line because old mortar attached to new mortar will result in cracks ,and using tools to smooth out the mortar helps. You can do a basic google search on how this job should have been completed properly. In fact, the photo on their estimate of how they supposedly do mortar repairs is completely opposite of the job performed.
Poor quality workmanship that required hiring another contractor to rectify bad chimney sealing that continued leaking after 3 visits by Eco Grizzly. Did not respond to call regarding warranty. Did not honor warranty or take responsibility for poor quality workmanship.

I hired Eco Grizzley to do an Inspection and estimate for our fireplace. We just bought the house 2 months prior and the general inspection said there may be issues with the chimney/chase/flue due to an excessively hot surround. Eco Grizzley was the only one to respond to my calls for service/inspection. They set the appt up quickly and were happy up until that point. Joey Geffen came out and checked the fireplace. It took me over a week/week and a half to get the report. I had to call back about it. And then another 2 weeks to check the accuracy of what Joey told me. He said that we needed to replace the entire fireplace, due to it not being vented properly. He gave us one picture of the inside vent. Which does not tell you if it was vented incorrectly or not. He did not scope the vent or use a camera, so how can he be certain? And this is HOW I KNOW FOR CERTAIN. A $14,000.00 estimate to replace the entire fireplace, open up the stucco surround and put it all back together because he said Superior Fireplaces has gone out of business. And that he can not even get parts to replace the venting. Two weeks later, upon having contractors out to check on additional issues elsewhere, I mentioned the story and he checked to see the temps and whether the heat was flowing outside as it should. And it did. Knowing that is still not an accurate assessment, I called a distributor of Superior and they confirmed that Superior is still in business and can still get parts for our discontinued unit that is only 6 years old. I already have a hard time trusting contractors just because of stories like this, but here is such an overt, red-flag-filled example of why customers should always do their homework and not just trust what they are being fed. Why is it so hard to find honesty and integrity anymore? So we wasted our time and the payment for him to show up and lie that day, but are saving $14000+ because I did my homework.
Excellent company. Inspector was professional and friendly. The inspection, cleaning, and new gas fireplace logs all done the same day. We are very happy with the service and would recommend to fami l y and frienda.
