We are extremely pleased with the results of the project at 8425 Ridgeway in Skokie Andrew of Eco Tec even stopped by to check how the work was progressing. This is not an easy job, imagine the temperature inside the attic, the guys Manuel and Irvin were very courteous. We even got them lunch and tipped them appropriately I will definitely without any doubt refer them to anyone who needs home insulation. Installed spray foam in walls and ceilings to resolve an issue with repeated frozen pipes. Speaking with the sales guy/lead was easy and helpful. Speaking with the team that did the work on the day was difficult and I had to call the other guy a couple times to sort out misunderstandings. But the end result was good and would use them again for spray foam insulation.

My experience with EcoTec has been horrible. The work they did for me (insulation room in condo building) was bad in the following ways: 1. They disregarded lots of safety precautions and I think they were extremely dangerous. I was allowed to stay in my condo unit (room next to the installation) throughout the installation of spray foam. I wasn't actively disobeying or ignoring their instructions. I wasn't told anything. Same thing for other people in the building below and above my unit. After actually looking up what is recommended or allowable (including talking to their spray foam manufacturer and several other contractors) I universally heard this was dangerous. They did not stop my HVAC system during installation either. I assumed and trusted that they would be safe and tell me what was appropriate safety measures but I don't think they were safe. My family came home a short while later. I will not forgive them for potentially exposing my family (including young child) to what can be pretty toxic chemicals. 2. THEY SPRAY FOAMED THE WRONG PLACE! When they said they were done, I came out to see that they had done the ceiling instead of the walls. Not what they were supposed to do. Now I have difficult to remove spray foam in a place that I did not want. 3. I think their work was low quality. There are already gaps in the spray foam in the ceiling of the mechanical room. My floor is still cold and the mechanical room looks bad the way they left the foam. Apparently the spray foam on the walls was on frames that were flipped to 2" which isn't right but they didn't notice or care. Please consider this review before working with Ecotec.
Response from Eco Tec Insulation, Inc.
"I spoke with Taylor yesterday 2/8/24 to discuss his concerns. I took away from the conversation that if I gave him his money back he would remove the negative reviews that he posted. We are a small business and always here to help. We will not refund money in exchange for a positive or negative review. I did however offer to visit his condo and take a look at his concerns and of course address or correct anything if needed. We are more than happy to stand behind our work that we have been preforming since 2006. - Brian H (Owner)"

The services provided went above and beyond. They were very meticulous and conscious of the surrounding area during their work. The work with the spray foam definitely made a difference in the comfort level of my home.

Everyone I was in contact with was amazing. From the estimate, scheduling, and the work itself. The crew did a great job and cleaned everything up afterward.

They provide free over the phone estimates which is a tremendous help in comparison to other companies. The customer service agent Stacey was very pleasant to work with. She answered all my questions pre and post service provided. The installers that came in where very respectful and treated my home with care. The one ask is that before the installers perform work, they explicitly describe what theyâ d be doing. I was not fully aware of some of what they did until the job was complete. And I would have requested alternate service if I had know.

They did a great job but had to return to do some touch up. There was some initial mis-communication as to what we expected. It was resolved with 1 phone call and they returned to make the corrections. Good experience overall and I would recommend them to anyone. Workers were nice and followed all COVID precautions ( masks). I recommend to have a quick conversation before they begin on the exact scope and detail of the project.

The project was for an enclosed deck. I assume most people will not be using foam for this application and my issues might not be relevant. But the estimator or salesperson came to my house and gave an estimate and proposal based on what he observed. When the date came for the installation, the installer felt my job need some extra fabric to prevent the installation from coming between the floorboard and through the floor. This enclosed porches flooring is simply 2x6?s . It is like a 3 season room. Once installed gets there I am being told the project would cost $500 more to do it right. I asked them to come down a little and we met at 2300. They said now we need landscaping fabric to go underneath to prevent foam from coming through the cracks. I told the salesperson that I spoke to other companies and they told me that they just tape the cracks (from the bottom) The installer told me that they would take forever to do. And that he has to go with what his installer recommends. So we agree to go with landscaping fabric, but they cannot do it that day. This day was scheduled in a rush, to accommodate the company. I was not in a rush at all. I felt rushed now because they are at my house on very short notice and now they are trying to jack up the price $500 on a project that had already been looked at by their company. So now we schedule for them to come back the next day. We do another proposal and it includes landscaping fabric *as needed*. They come out and end up taping above the floor. I am thinking they are going above and beyond. Until the end , when I realize there is insulation between all the floorboards. And that is when I realized the landscaping fabric was never used and was definitely needed. There was a separate issues of the installer breaking a thick temper glass tabletop and stated that company would take it out of the price. Later the salesperson asked me to eat the cost and I reluctantly did. But initially going off the words of the installer I gave a check that was a couple hundred short, with a plan to find out how much the glass cost. And I would send the difference. This is before I agreed over the phone to eat the cost. I?m trying to be nice. I asked the installer if he need this small 3x3 straw patio table moved and he said no. He some how shatters it. So after I decide to pay for the glass out of my Pocket, I?m getting ready to write the check for the remainder and mail it to the company and I realize that the landscaping fabric was not used. Even though there were big issues the day before about doing this job without landscaping fabric would not be acceptable and they tried to add $500 to the proposal, I find out they never used the landscaping fabric. I tried reaching the salesperson right away. It took him a day or two to get back to me. And eventually he tried to say his boss thought I still owed them the remainder balance. I was pissed. They added cost to the project while at my home for a project that was scopes out in advance and then the extra work that they said was required and the reason why they added the extra cost was not actually done. They did not use the landscaping fabric. They wasted my time and I feel like they tried to rip me off. I felt like the prices I was given were fair, but they way the broken glass and the extra couple hundred dollars were handled, I feel like the customer service sucks. The glass ended up costing $61. I was asked the pay for the $61, which I did. Then I was asked to pay the extra couple hundred dollars for landscaping fabric that was never used. They admitted to not using it and said they believed I still owed them. Probably because the new proposal Says *as needed*. Well, it was definitely needed because there is foam coming through the 2x6?s.

Got exactly what I wanted for a fair price. I had the foam installed through the inside walls, not outside. Small drill holes every 16" were rough patched before they left. Installers were very skilled, neat, and respectful. The company needs to supply them with a new vacuum, though. The shop vac they used put more plaster dust in my home than it took out. I let them use my own vacuum cleaner and it was fine.

They didn't show-up the day that had been scheduled due to a Google Calendar issue. Tough time getting a call back from them and was quoted and signed a contract for one price then was held hostage when the crew arrived saying the salesman screwed-up the quote and was quoted too low. Crew was about to leave until I offered them $500 extra to stay and do the work since I had taken off work the day they missed the appointment and now the day they actually showed-up. Needless to say I ended up paying more than the next lowest quote I received. The work was done well though and the clean-up was pretty good for the most part except for some stray blue tape and plastic from the tarping. All-in-all I would just hire someone else next time and eliminate the headache dealing with people that don't call you back. If they say they are going to call you back you will have to call them back...annoying.
