"We provided a bid to Jon to remove the trees and Creosote bushes on his empty lot and stated in the bid that we would chip the wood and leave the tree wood on the lot. Jon agreed to this as it reduced the cost of the project because we did not have the added cost to dispose of the debris. Jon never met us at the job site prior to the job and never met us after the job for payment. Once the job was complete, we asked Jon to let us know if everything was done to his satisfaction. A day later he responded saying that we did not take the garbage off the property (garbage left by homeless people in garbage bags) and the logs we left on the property were too big for him to move. We never agreed to removing the garbage and the size of the wood was small enough to be carried by one person. We did not know he expected us to pick up the garbage until after the job was complete. After we received his message, we offered to go back to the job site and pick up the garbage for him and cut the wood into even smaller pieces. He refused to respond to us until we asked for final payment. We attempted several times to help Jon and he ignored all attempts. He then proceeded to tell us that we would not get paid until the city removed his violation which had nothing to do with our contract. After several weeks of trying to collect payment, our last correspondence was John telling us that we are losers and losers do not get paid! At that point, we determined that Jon had never planned on paying us in the first place and we took next steps to collect payment. Payment was due on completion and we were not paid until over a month later. I would warn any contractor not to work with Jon in the future."
