Elliott Mazur Painting and Wallpapering
About us
I learned how to paint in the early 70's from a 50 year professional at the end of his career. And while we no longer use white lead, turpentine, and linseed oil to make our paints on the job, he instilled in me a sense of pride and craftmanship that, unfortunately, is somewhat lacking today. I've deliberately stayed small so I do only one job at a time with my crew. I am the only person you will deal with and often I'm on the job working with my men. I learned my trade in Ann Arbor Michigan, where we have lots of old, wood-framed houses, needing extra TLC. For the exterior, I use slow-dry, penetrating, true oil-based primer on that old, weather-beaten wood. I use linseed oil on wooden sash prior to applying new putty for longer life. I use a two-part epoxy liquid and a two part epoxy filler for areas that are rotted. I've saved many window sills and rotted beams Interior, I still use oil-based enamel for kitchen, bath, and trim or "green" paints if that's your option.

"I'm surprised to hear the work was unsatisfactory. I like to please all my customers. He said he didn't want to pay me to return and sand the patches after they were dry. He'd do it himself. He also said he didn't want to pay to have a lot of new drywall installed and just patch what was there. It was quite uneven due to a leaky skylight and he said do the best you can. I left him sand paper and said it would take some time and elbow grease. He laughed and said he wouldn't do that as he didn't care that much. Had he called me with this complaint,I would have gladly sanded the patches no charge. I'm surprised at this review."
"This was a difficult job as we had lots of electrician holes and water damage to repair, therefore lots of dust. Se we used lots of plastic to contain the mess. I'm glad they were pleased."
