Do not purchase any luxury vinyl tile products with this company because they do not contract installers that understand how to properly install it. MY RECENT EXPERIENCE: I had just purchase a home with carpet in the kitchen. I met with a sales person who helped me select a luxury vinyl tile product they offer. Day1 the installers did not show up. Day2 they showed up, removed the carpet, then applied glue and started installing tile without the plywood subfloor that I was charged $700 for because they said didn't need it. OK. However, they had the wrong grout color and did not apply a proper 1/4" grout gap line as I requested. I called Empire, they stopped their work then told me I would get credited the $700 for no subfloor installment. On day3 they sent a second and different contracted installer to do it right but, they had to re-charge me the $700 for the plywood subfloor because the first contractor ruined the floor. Then the installer argued with me about a 1/4" grout line, saying it would crack (not true). They contacted their boss, who agreed with me that it would not crack and to go ahead and install it that way. But, the installer did not apply the grout properly level with the 1/8" vinyl tile, instead he made it paper thin and YES it cracked the next day when it dried. - The moral of this story is; DO NOT TRUST EMPIRE TODAY TO SEND COMPETENT INSTALLERS but, EXPECT THEM TO DO JUST THE OPPOSITE.

We moved furniture from room to room and the guys installing the carpet helped us. We had a total of $1,800 ft of rug and they did it all within just a few short hours all the while helping us move all the furniture.

Most projects are about finishing work. The installer did not properly miter the corners for the finishing molding and did not countersink the finishing nails. Very substandard finishing work.

The installers did great work. They made sure all of the details were completed and we were happy with the job before they left the house. They wore masks the entire time and cleaned up everything before they left. They also moved and put back the furniture in the room they were working in. The only complaint I have is that their management only assigned two installer to the job that could have used three or even four. Empire promotes their one day service but that is not likely to happen with just two people handling this type of hard wood installation.
