How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because appliance repair itself is was becoming a forgotten trade, but now appliances are not disposable, and are cheaper to repair, than replace. With that on the rise, there was a select few companies that could repair appliances. I myself, having a family of 6; know how your household can come to a halt when an appliance breaks. So I decided to learn that trade, and became certified in all aspects. I started my company and named it Family First, because we understand the struggle it can be on a family when a machine goes down, so we make it a priority to have the appliance up and running as fast as possible..

We started in this industry in 2001.

We describe our business as Well established

How often should you maintenance your appliances?

This review contains an update following continued poor customer service. Don't use this business - they are incompetent and dishonest. The update: After my first review, one of the VPs from Family First called me to apologize and assure me that they emphasized customer service. He agreed they had misdiagnosed the problem and should have never attempted repair. He also agreed to refund our expenses. Two weeks later and Family First still has not refunded our payment. Furthermore, he has not returned phone calls. Now I have to work through the Better Business Bureau and Maryland Attorney General to get my money back. GO ELSEWHERE! Don't use this business. They are awful. I hired them to fix a front loading washing machine. They repeatedly failed to make scheduled appointments and did not fix the machine properly. They did charge me and I have not been able to reach them to discuss the problem. They had someone out to troubleshoot the next day. From there, the service was awful. The first mechanic did not troubleshoot the problem. He looked at the machine, saw the boot was sealed and said it must have dry rotted. Never turned it on and never did any further examination. Then I started dealing with their customer service department, which is misnamed. They said they could make the repair Monday morning but I said I was not available until after lunch. They could not support that time. Ok, I thought I was the customer who paid several hundred dollars. We set it up for Tuesday. Monday they call and tell me that the part that came in was damaged and re-scheduled for Wednesday. Tuesday they call and tell me the part had not come in. He starts by telling me what appointments they can support. Really? When I told him this was ridiculous, he gives me excuses about supply chain problems. After the first part arrived broken, they should have paid to have the replacement sent overnight. You can do that on the Eastern Seaboard. Thursday, the repairman shows up. Nice kid, but very inexperienced. Takes two hours to put the boot on. And it did not last 48 hours. Saturday, I am cleaning the washer and find a tear in the boot. Turns out the barrel is rubbing on the seal. Neither mechanic figured that out. When I tried to call the office today, I was left on hold for an hour. Then I was sent to a voice mail.

Service technician showed up as promised and on time. Professional and thorough. The result was not what I hoped for because the refrigerator had to be replaced instead of repaired. However the technician performed the inspection fully and timely.
