So here is our experience with replacing our fence: the facts and opinions, the shortest version from our point of view. I obtained 4 estimates. We eliminated 2 because they weren't going to replace the metal posts. We decided on Farr Fencing because they were going to replace the metal posts according to the estimate provided by them. Do you think it states they will replace the metal posts? We did. The owner stated his workers determined the posts didn't need to be replaced. Hmmm...Wouldn't the owner have made that determination when he did the estimate? Isn't that the point of a thorough estimate, to assess exactly what does/doesn't to be done and provide an accurate cost? Mr. Farr did take off a little bit of money which he called a "discount", a figure he seemed to just make up. We aren't sure if it was accurate. To make sure we were charged correctly, I asked for a price per pole, including parts and labor. To date, that request hasn't been responded to. The invoice showing our payment states they didn't need to replace all posts - some were still good. Wrong - how about the truth - no posts were replaced, not a single one. Other problems include not showing up on the arranged day, cutting part of my tree without notification, stating he called when my phone records show he did not, and finding one board not even nailed in. Fact, had Farr Fencing stated they weren't going to replace the posts, we would have chosen another company. His response to that? And I quote, "You don't know if their fence would be standing in 3 years." What does that even mean? Now my opinion. I don't feel this man is honest. Bottom line, he didn't do what he said he would and offers excuses for everything. WATCH OUT! If you use this company you better get everything in writing, record every conversation, and have your hammer handy to finish the job.

This company called me to plan an estimate. The owner came next day and gave me a quote within a few hours. He was competitive with the other companies I had come out and matched their prices. His work online looked great and construction started later that week. We had spoken about bringing the fence back in to follow city code. While speaking about city code you would think he would mention the need for a permit. Call me oblivious, but you would think when you hire a "reputable" company they would know about following city codes (i.e. getting a building permit). We will get back to that later. The old fence is taken down and new one put up within two days. The work looks good from a far but once you get up close to it some planks are longer/ shorter than others. Some are further spaced at the bottom. The owner never came out to look at the finished project. In fact, I had to call him to thank him for his work and ask how I was to pay for his services. To which I was directed to his wife via text. The project was paid for and was asked a few weeks later to leave a review. Now here we are, about a month later and the city is now sending me code violations. The fence is NOT within the code we spoke of as far as the length from the street as well as the lack of building permits. So now, I am out the price of the fence as well as paying fines with the possibility of needing to push the fence back to follow the code.... I brought it up to the owner during the estimate. Thanks.
