Furniture Repair
I contacted Phil Ferrari to diagnose and fix electrical problem on recliners of sofa. He was unable to lift, move or tip the sofa so I had to do it for him. He did not test any of the electrical wiring and said we needed 2 new motors. He would order them with a $350 down payment (price of one motor) which I did. After 3 weeks of waiting (with the recliners still in the reclining position) I contacted him and he said "You'll have to wait. It takes time." I contacted the company that built the sofa, they directed me to one of their suggested technicians and the gentleman was out to our home in two days and diagnosed and fixed the problem for $125 - no motors needed! I contacted Phil, told him we no longer needed his service and expected a refund, which he agreed to. After 2 weeks with no refund (he said the check was returned - incorrect address. He had the address in our texts and he had been to our home) I drove to his house and picked up the check. AVOID! Worst repairman ever!

Fired him mid project, after he spilled red furniture dye on multiple large spot on our beige carpet. Brought no supplies, used our paper towels. Borrowed hand tools, screwdrivers, pliers, clamps. Did not show up first day. Noon next day. I requested early start (10am) nextday, arrived at noon. By 3:00 he had destroyed carpet. Kick him out

Furniture Refinish
This is a dining table with a veneer top in a light finish with patterns. An over filled flower pot caused water damage. He said he could make it much better for $300. when he was unable to remove the stain, without telling me, he applied a dark stain to that portion of the table. What probably could have been restored by a competent craftsman, is now an ugly bit of junk. I could have done this myself for the cost of a can of stain.

I cannot recommend this firm based on my experience; in my day a simple handshake was all that was needed to cement a professional relationship that would last a lifetime. This is not the same world.

He spilled red dye all over our carpet, after being asked to put a tarp down. Now the carpet is ruined, even after professional cleaning. The man is no longer capable. Shows up at noon, works 3 hours. Missed the first day. Has no tools, Uses my paper towels to clean up, my screw driver to open cans, my pliers. We should never have hired him. Fired him after he spilled the dye and pretended he did not know where it came from.

The provider claimed he was doing the procedure correctly by sanding, just one spot and putting stain over the area. He refused to completely sand, the whole table, and just claimed by putting a second coat of stain, it would look fine. He did not have any tools or sandpaper with him and asked us for some sandpaper . I inquired about sanding the whole table and he kept insisting that it was fine that he only sanded the spots that had crazy glue drop on it. I said he needed to sand the whole table and he just sat there and argued with me. He argued with me so much. I told him to go and leave the project. We called him after a few days and we requested our money back that he did not complete the job. He said he could do it the way I wanted it done by sanding the whole table. We gave him another chance to correct his work. He came out and worked on the table for two hours. He sanded 1/2 of the table and spots on the other half of the table, he did not sand the two inserts that also belong to the table. Then he proceeded to stain all pieces whether they were sanded or they were not sanded. He put stain over the old stain and said that that was fine, he had used a little steel wool to rough it up. and then he stained the half of the apron because he couldn’t see the top of the whole apron. He sloppily corrected a nick in the table and said it was fine. Everything he touched on the table made the table worse, I told him to stop working on it and leave and I wanted my money back. He refuses to give my money back. He does not know what he’s doing. He lied about his ability. He’s an old man that is not all with it in the brain. He thinks he wants to come back and try to fix it some more. I am not letting him touch my table. On further inspection he has sanded out the routed edge of the table. He has put the stain on and never wiped it off and he just did everything wrong and he thinks he’s doing it correctly. He should not be doing any work for any one.

Terrible Experience — Do Not Hire We hired Phil (Ferrari Furniture Doctor) through Angi to restore our 30+ year-old dining table. He claimed it was high-quality wood and quoted a steep price, promising it would look brand new. After taking a leaf to match the stain, he missed appointments, arrived late, and then discovered the table was actually veneer over composite—after sanding through it and damaging the surface. To cover the bare spot, he spray-painted it and used mismatched stain. His sloppy technique left primer on nearby furniture and walls, which I had to clean up. The final finish was uneven and blotchy, and he only offered $100 off for ruining the table. I paid just to be done with him. Avoid this contractor.

Furniture Repair
The vendor came to the residence on Friday, June 6, for an estimate and initial evaluation. He provided a quote for $300, which the homeowner agreed to. 50% deposit was paid in cash. The vendor brought no tools. He requested the homeowner accompany him to his vehicle for tools, then proceeded to have the homeowner carry his toolbox into the residence. He then proceeded to cut open the fabric on the arm of the sectional to visually determine the extent of the damage. Furniture was left in a state of disrepair. A follow-up appointment was scheduled for the following Tuesday, June 10. The vendor did not arrive on Tuesday, homeowner calls were not answered, and his phone went directly to voicemail. I was able to contact the vendor at approximately 7 pm, when he indicated he would be there Wednesday morning. On Wednesday, June 11th, the vendor did not arrive until 11:39 am. The homeowner's significant other, who was working from home, let the vendor in, was requested to carry the toolbox. The vendor then requested assistance, at which time they were told by the person present that she was returning to work and was available upon completion. The vendor then requested acetone (nail polish remover) from the person. He proceeded to use the entire bottle on the sofa, apparently to remove glue that had been applied. The arm of the sofa was not properly re-sewn, but rather glued and then covered with duct tape. He inquired about obtaining more acetone, noting that he did not know it was readily available as nail polish remover at any local store. He made the person present extremely uncomfortable, so that she just wanted him out of her home. He stated he was done, he was paid, and then left at approximately 6:15 pm. The visual results of his repair are not of the quality of the original sofa, and the vendor was extremely unprofessional.

One of our sofa sets middle part back support was broken and fell back. I called Ferrari Furniture Doctor, talked to Phil Ferrari, explained the issue, and scheduled an onsite visit to look into the issue. He came on time, looked up the issue, and gave a reasonable quote for repair. We accepted the quote and scheduled the repair. He came on the scheduled date with all the materials and tools. He repaired the sofa in a couple of hours and did it very professionally. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and nice to the customer. I recommended him for any sofa repair.

He was very prompt when I called for the service, and he came out probably the same day, and he was very knowledgeable about what he was telling us. He was very nice, pleasant, and prompt. He took the cushions with him because he had to put new foam in them and got them back very quickly.
