I hired Valley plumbing thinking they were sending a licensed plumber. The plumber is under their license but he himself is not licensed. He connected the sink but there was an extra pipe he said he did not know what it was for and neither did I which is why I hired a plumbing contractor. It turns out that the pipe is an AC drain. Hence, I had a flood. Valley Plumbing sent another plumber to look at the problem who diagnosed what the pipe was in five seconds or less. Valley plumbing is coming to connect after another five or six days at no additional cost but they will not fix the cabinet that was damaged by the water. I feel this was terrible service for full price.

The business model for Valley Plumbing has changed. I have used them several times over many years, and their price structure was fine. Check the job, give an estimate, and go to work. When their technician arrived, he looked the jobs over, then went outside for quite some time. He came back with three estimates, each more involved than the other. The most expensive was to completely replace the toilet, which, as far as I could see, only needed a new flush valve assembly. The least expensive was only a few hundred dollars less but did what I wanted to be done. The technician replaced the flush valve. He changed three shut-off valves, one for the toilet and two for the adjacent sink. He changed out two cartridges in the valves for that sink. He examined the valves in the Kohler Jacuzzi in the master bath. Neither he nor anyone he called could identify them. They were never replaced. But, I still was charged for a second diagnosis. That all came to $918. I did not get the invoice until the next day when I received it via email. That invoice listed five **tasks** and the number of units of each. No costs for each **task** were given; only the $918 total. I emailed back, asking for a breakdown of what each **task** cost and they replied that â Because we are not on an hourly rate we are unable to provide a breakdown on materials and labor. When the options are presented that includes all parts, material, labor etc.** . The **minor*** toilet rebuild involved replacing the flush valve with a Fluidmaster Pro (retail cost, $15) and adjusting the arm so that it flushed effectively. Although I only pointed out two valves in the adjacent sink that either leaked or would not shut off, he replaced three-angle valves (that need not cost more than $10 a piece) and the two faucet cartridges (that retail for $15 each). So, I estimate the cost of the parts as no more than $75 (and I am giving it the benefit of the doubt), so their labor costs something like $400/h. Therefore, your task prices must include a very high number of hours unless your labor rate is priced at something like a neurosurgeonâ s. At any reasonable hourly rate, my total would have been MANY hundreds of dollars less. This is a terrible example of trying to justify excessive charges by giving the customer no specific information. After emailing this complaint to Valley Plumbing, I never received any feedback. Not a good way to run a business.

It is wrong. We received a price of over $800. We expected several hours of labor and significant materials costs. The job took less than two hours. During that time one worker was gone at least thirty minutes while the other one, after digging a 3X3 hole, sat waiting for his return. According to the cost breakdown on a tablet I was shown on-site, the cost for digging the hole was $275. We received no written estimate and no receipt until it was mailed. By telephone, I questioned the lack of transparency and the failure to base charges on time and material. I received no response. We used Valley Plumbing for many years and relied on their professionalism and fairness. We are disappointed. Do what we failed to do: get advance written estimates from more than one company.

James was very helpful in diagnosing and fixing our gas leak. He also fixed a leaking water faucet. Was helpful getting everything in working order. Was more expensive than we hoped. Thank goodness we didn't need to tear the patio apart.

Very available, had the parts, got the job done. Had a problem after they left and they came back promptly and fixed it all up. First and second visits did a little extra to help out. I appreciate it. Thanks David!
