Review by Ron B. in Oxnard, CA
These are not the guys you want to use. I met with Sam first after interviewing two other general contractors. He seemed to be professional and was prepared with a sample of the contract. The other two contractors sent out attractive women that were very friendly. They to seemed knowledgeable. I decided to work with Sam and Fidelity because he seemed prepared. I gave him the first deposit. He had a different general contractor demo the site. When it came to to putting the place back together he said he would have the licensed electrician install the electrical. It was the same one guy who has his own contracting business. Sam later said he would have the lic Plumber rough in the plumbing. It turned out to the be same one guy who has his own contractor. The day they started he asked for another payment for the demo work and I paid. I know had over $5,000 paid of a $13,000 bathroom repair. When it came to getting the building code inspection Sam and Ben wanted a payment before the inspection. They called while we were at the job site demanding payment. I actually had to work on the bathroom to straighten up the installation of the electrical. The installation was sloppy and in the wrong location. The crew damaged a new door with their router that needed to be repaired which I did. The insulation of the tract was not right either. I cleaned that up as well. I was ok with working along side the crew as I did not want to fix the poor work after it being completed. They did not arranged for the building inspector which is one of the things that was in the contract before their next progress payment. Ben, who is Sam's brother was pushing for the next payment and made several threats. Said he would put a lien on the property. The inspection was not requested so the following day I arranged for the inspection. It passed two days after the project was ready for inspection. They tried to up sale some dry rot repair that was needed for the building inspector. When the HOA had their contractor fix the dry rot for less than $300 things got weird with Sam. He quoted $2500 for the same work. I have been calling for the past three days many times each day. They are not answering my many calls. I did reach someone at the office and the women verified that both Sam and Ben are still alive and well. I had a concern before that maybe they were in a car accident. My suggesting is if someone from Fidelity General Contractors from Encino calls to come out and bid a job you take a PASS. Life is to short to have this lack of follow through They left the bathroom in a place where it can not be used for the tenant and it is only a 1 bathroom condo.
Response by Fidelity General Contractors, Inc.: First, we should mention that we were hired by Mr. Ron B. [Consumer name withheld at their request]on 9.26.2018 to fix previous contractors work with the understanding we can start 10.15.2018, however, Mr. B. didn't answer his phone, didn't respond to messages and emails. We got no explanation on what's going on, we didn't start work that was priced according to current pricing at the time. On February 7, over 4 months after contract signing, Mr. B. finally contacted us via email to start his project, even though prices have gone up, we honored the agreement and prepared to start work on 2.18.2019. Our labor workers are professional and in some cases licensed separately at their trade, when we work on buildings (commercial work) we make sure specific trades take care of their specific item. Unlike Mr. B.s claims, we picked up payments on time, in fact, Mr. B. withheld payments, we have proof of stage payments and proof of inspections passed. The ONLY TRUTH Mr. B. wrote is that he did bring other guys to work on our items when we informed him we can't move a fan because it will require to cut framing that is not allowed, he then hired a daily labor guy to do it behind our back. (See support header framed next to the fan in the picture posted by Mr. B.) Inspector asked us to take pictures of stages performed; we have all info needed to show no sloppy work was done, and everything is up to code, we don't know what work Mr. B.'s laborer had done after pictures were taken. We can't allow that, we pulled the permit for the work and we are responsible and liable for it. If his Mickey Mouse laborer cuts framing to cause damage or work on electrical items that can cause damage or life hazard, it is our right to stop it. As for his communication claims, it's a lie, he is the one who doesn't answer his phone. Our phone system log shows more than 30 calls he ignored for a period of over 4 months and through this project, he kept ignoring us, he claims we ignored his many calls in the past 3 days, Please view attachment of our call record to him 2 days ago, a scheduled call his promised to answer when we talked previously. We officially will terminate the permit Monday 3.11.2019, as it was recommended by city officials and treat this legal matter. Official latter will be sent to the property's HOA as well. Good luck with your third contractor, we just feel sorry for your tenant who has to go through this.

After interviewing 4 contractors and receiving quotes, I decided to go with Fidelity. Karen presented the best design elements and offered to help me shop and coordinate all design elements. For this reason, I felt confident I would have the kitchen of my dreams. In providing this review, Karen designed a kitchen for me that is simply amazing. It's visually appealing, functional, and is the heart of my home. She has an eye for detail and will work with you to get it right. I sit in awe with the transformation she pulled off. If you are like me, and don't really know how to make design elements work together, having someone like Karen on your team is awesome! Karen's interior design mind is a gift to the contracting world.

my bathroom remodel is substandard. I've had them redo and fix problems and I still have problems. Drywall isn't smooth. Tile work isn't good. I had it done over and over. Still isn't right. Pocket door doesn't work and strips the paint. Paint work is less than acceptable. It took 3 months for my bathroom. Many days without people working. Karin is the only thing that is respectable and talented with this company!

I hired Ben to turn my bathroom into handicap access bathroom since my mother is moving in with me. The job was preformed professionally, fast and clean. I will recommend Fidelity Contractors to my friends and family, and sure to hire them for future projects.

Ben was very attentive to all my needs, the crew showed up always on time. I was planning to get at least 3 bids for my kitchen, but after our meeting which was the first bidder I already knew I found my contractor. Price was a bit over what I expected but overall I got a very good value, I'm planning to do my bathroom in a couple of months and I will surly use Ben for that job as well.

After a long struggle to find a decent contractor I was given a referral by a friend who had worked with them and I couldn't be happier with the result. My balcony was infested with termites and suffered a lot of damage. Now it looks great! They were efficient, straight forward, and were able to do the job in a timely fashion. Thanks Fidelity!

I had a small job in the place I rent and I was pleased to be able to do something that was affordable for me being a renter yet I still got to see the cabinets looking just like new. They were not the cheapest but the quality was amazing and they did it pretty quick. Afterwards they cleaned up like they weren't even there. I am very happy.
