Heise Home Building

Worst experience I?ve ever had with a contractor. To put some perspective on this I?ve hired contractors to do a lot of work over 30 years on various homes I?ve owned to the tune of about $250k. Everything from major renovations (Kitchens & Bathrooms) to small jobs. Corey comes off as very personable & is very likable but that?s the end of the good things about him. Don?t get sucked in. I contracted him September 14, 2025 to build a custom shelf unit in my basement for $11k. I paid $8500 up front for material ($6k) & half the labor as is standard with most jobs. The agreed upon completion date was December 31, 2024. As of September 13, 2025 the project has not been completed & I stopped all work. He left my basement a mess & tried to gaslight me that we never had an agreed upon completion date despite numerous texts where he stated he would be done by various dates. I had to threaten to sue in order to get him moving on this job in July 2025 which he still didn?t finish.

Cory came to replace my deck, and he exceed my expectations by a long shot. He is very well orientend with his team, and keeps to schedule. Great contractor!

Cory achieved a good result that exceeded our initial expectations. That was the positive upshot. There were several drawbacks, however. The final cost was four times greater than originally budgeted. Cory has also been unable to provide a final statement of work showing the amount paid. Like some other reviews here, he left a lot of scraps and debris around the exterior of the house that we had to clean up. It is also frustrating Cory is no longer willing to have a dialogue with a recent customer (i.e., does not answer calls or text messages). Overall, I would not recommend this contractor.

I said I wouldnâ t write a review but.. Cory quoted me 2000 for all projects, garden and inside jobs, garden was great, shelfâ s were nice, however, Cory kept trying to up the price, took forever to finish jobs, didnâ t show up because of family commitments, I paid Cory up front, and only two of the projects were completed before I stopped the work with him, due to his inconsistency, I informed him he would need to return 300 of the money as work was not done, and 7 days later still no money returned or a receipt for a 1000 dollar check, Work ethic is unprofessional, kept trying to get more money, Inconsistent, did not clean up mess inside, no communication, would not recommend to anyone.

Cory was on time and explained on the steps to fix the dry wall. He cleaned up the work area. He was able to communicate the process and believes in a good old hand shake.

He repaired our door just fine but was sloppy - leaving cigarette butts on the ground, getting oil all over our marble benches...

With clear intent, contractor does great work
