Chris Barcomb and his crew of " Five Star Painting" have done an excellent job and completed my home exterior repair and paint work on schedule. The crew was very courteous and were able to complete the project in 5 days. I like the quality of the paint work and workmanship of the siding repair work. My kudos and thanks for the job well done.

Unfortunately my experience with Five Star Painting of Katy was less than stellar. The quality of the workmanship was nothing short of sloppy and amateur. After repeated attempts to contact Chris regarding the work and receiving no response, rating them a 1 is generous.

5+ Room Interior Painting or Staining
When booking with Five Star they were prompt, but after I paid them they never returned a phone call or text. They broke several clamps that held my Valences over my shutters and promised to replace them. Never called or came back nothing. My biggest problem is that they took the good ones to use as examples for new ones now I can not even get new ones without the examples. If this is the way they do business I would not recommend that you use them.

Simply put, they did no finish the job. There was a wall with a scratch that they assured me would be a quick and easy fix. The lead guy returned to finish this wall with a single paint brush in hand and quickly swept over the scratch and said if it did not blend with the rest of the wall, they would return and do the entire wall. Chris... I think... told me they would send someone back out. Well they never returned or called. I will say that the process was initially great and the other walls are beautiful, but they left me with a wall that looks worse than it did with a scratch. Now it is a big smudge. I do not recommend them.

We received several quotes and ultimately chose to go with Five Star as they provided the best value. The proposal process with Chris was a breeze and the project was completed without issue and was exactly what we expected. Our painters were in and out in one day when we had 4 rooms painted.

We hired this company to paint a new home we purchased. The previous owner had brown walls and we wanted to lighten the place up. I met Chris at the home an we walked through the project and he seemed very knowledgable. He sent over a quote and it seemed fair. Within that quote, it called for 2 coats of paint. After the project was completed, everything looked fine to me but my wife noticed that 2 coats didn't get the bottom color covered completely. She reached out to Joseph and he met her at the house where she showed him the house basically needed another coat. He said he would speak with Chris and we would be provided another quote for 1 additional coat of paint. My frustration is, while nobody is perfect and you can never really know 2 coats would get the job done, I wish the professionals would have provided that information upfront or known in general 2 coats wouldn't be enough. She also noticed the previous owner had adhesive strips on the wall for pictures and left the adhesive when they moved. The painters simply painted over the adhesive rather than removing it. Nevertheless, we were told we would receive a new quote and call 24 hours ago an have not received it. While they were paid for what they did (and I have no problem with that, they painted 2 coats it just wasn't enough), we have decided not to move forward with another coat and we will get this correct with good old fashioned diy elbow grease. I wish I could recommend since they guys are really nice, but the lack of follow through to truly complete the project before we move in (within the next week) really affected the rating I provided.

"Thanks for the feedback, Henry. During our initial meeting, we noted that the dramatic color change could possibly require a third coat. White over dark brown is challenging at best without 3. Our standard approach is to start with two, conduct an inspection with the client, and if they are happy, we close it out. In this case, it seems you were initially happy but after further inspection, wanted to consider a third coat. We have taken our experience with this project and created a new process by which we offer two proposals to ensure a client has the optional 3rd coat information up front. We appreciate your feedback that has helped us improve."
