When I hired Emerald Coast (not the company I thought I was hiring unfortunately--my mistake), I asked them that as they did the work to please let me know of anything outside the contract that needed to be addressed, because I wanted it done right. I knew the front door needed sanding before painting so I requested it. I did NOT know the foot/base of my columns needed sanding. As the professional he should have noticed and discussed it with me at our original meeting. The contract called for two coats on the columns and re-caulk as needed (no sanding because I did not realize it needed it). Painter only did one coat on the columns--I decided to let that slide (stupid me). A couple of days later, I noticed some areas at the base of the columns that did not get painted/caulked AT ALL, and painted over areas that should have been sanded first. Sent pictures to them and requested to get on the schedule for touch-up. That was 4/11. On 4/27 when Jennifer texted me to let me know they were coming I texted back: Just a word of warning he may need to do some minor washing since it has been a bit. She responded: No. We dont need to wash anything. If anything we can wipe it down with a rag. On 4/28 (after the severe thunderstorms) Mike showed up with his painter to do the touch up. He immediately jumps into how it is not his responsibility to clean up before he paints (even though it has been over two weeks, plus a storm) that I should have cleaned up myself, or my roofers should have cleaned up (I am having gutters replaced, and not their mess), and it is not his job to pressure wash like I requested (what?). So, I said, ok then reschedule. Then he proceeded to say that it was probably the roofers that scraped all the paint off to begin with (an area that clearly had been missed--zero new paint). Then I pointed to the area that should have been sanded before painting and said, No, look at this, it is just your crappy work. And I sent pictures to you before the roofers were even scheduled. Of course he did not like that, he told his painter that they were leaving. Then he says, it is not his job to do restoration work, he was only hired to paint. Then he says (referring to the storm debris) Look at this s***! And then starts in on me personally about how I talked down to his crew the entire time they were here before--completely unfounded--I did not even say two words to them. He said That is just what you do, you talk down to people" (I asked what he was referring to and he could not answer). Then he starts in about the review process how I made them come out to do the touch up by dangling a review, (I have been getting auto review requests every couple of days and told Jennifer I would do a review after the job was complete). As they are leaving I asked So, you are not going to finish the job even though it is paid in full? Then he starts pulling money out of his wallet and says Oh, I knew this is what its about, I mean really? I wont even get into the new weather stripping issue--not done correctly either. :( So here I sit with an unfinished paint job that I will have to do on my own (at 61) or I will have to pay true professional painters do do it the right way. I WONT be hiring Emerald Coast again!

". We are truly sorry to hear about your recent experience with our painting services. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we want to address your concerns and provide some context to the situation, and clarify your statements. First, we want to clarify that your project was completed to the best of our ability according to the agreed-upon contract. This was our second time working for you. You were extremely happy with the first job we did for you in 2020 and you said this is why you called us back. We absolutely applied 2 coats to everything we painted for you. All the doors, all the columns and all the trim, and the walls in the garage. You were home when we applied the paint. You spoke to us on the phone when our crew finished and you said you were happy with everything. You even gave our painters a tip for all their hard work! We take quality and customer satisfaction very seriously, and when you brought up the issues with the areas that required touch-ups, we scheduled to take care of this for you, you agreed to our return date for the touchup. We worked you into our schedule as quickly as possible. The relationship break down occurred when I (Mike) and one of the painters arrived on site. When I inspected your requests for touchup, it was damage and mess caused by the roofers. You stated that you were already unhappy with them and they were not returning. The columns were gouged and scratched from the roofing tear off debris falling when the tore the roof off above your patio. The debris and granules were clearly all over the ground and surrounding areas. The trash from the tear off was scattered around your patio, flower beds and yard, and the granules from the roof tear off were about 1/2 inch thick, and all over your front patio tile, and the base of the freshly painted columns. The roofers needed to clean their mess, and they should of power washed or used a leaf blower to clean up their mess. We would of happily made the touchup you requested. When I brought this to your attention, you were defensive and very rude and nasty. You called me stupid, and questioned my competence to do the job, you questioned my painters ethnicity and if he understood English or not. You were clearly getting angry with us, so I made the decision to leave your toxic environment, and we would reschedule to come back if you would like. You began to make accusations, that I would not reschedule because you had already paid us in full , you had paid us that was true. We would of absolutely came back. You submitted payment a couple days after we originally finished the job. I was 100% willing to return to make the touchup another day, after you had the chance to calm down. You kept refusing. You told me I could just give you a partial refund and you would touchup yourself. We agreed on $200 and I gave you $200 cash. You then asked my painter for the paint he had in his hand because you said you paid for it when you hired us. We gave you the paint and parted ways. As we left your driveway you were still making comments towards us. 7 months later you are writing a review. I'm not sure how we can help you any further but if you have a suggestion please call our office. Mike Emerald Coast Painters - Jennifer Miller"

I contacted company after seeing truck in my area and speaking with the homeowner who recommended them highly. Jen set up an appointment for Mike to come take a view and give me an estimate. He asked questions about my likes and dislikes, and made suggestions. I liked his approach. Next, Jen came by and we went over the color scheme. She is quite knowledgeable and has a good taste for colors. Mike's crew showed up on time and completely prepared. They did a beautiful job on painting my house and cleaning up after themselves. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

"Extremely hard woman to please, very obsessive compulsive . Some dust got on a few nick nacks in the middle of the job and she got upset. Our contract specifics there will be dust on occasion and we thoroughly clean our work area when we are finished. This woman was not able to be satisfied."

Reasonable price. Worked over the weekend to complete the job on time. He does not replace fixtures after he takes them down. He agreed to 2 coats of paint; after he left I discoverd that some rooms had only one coat of paint (poor coverage).
Response from Emerald Coast Painters, CO.
"The price was very reasonable especially after I gave him a $400 price break. We worked over the weekend to meet HIS deadline and because we accommodate our customers. He was advised some rooms needed a 3rd coats due to the colors he choose but he did not want to pay any extra for a 3rd coat."
