Footprints Floors Colorado Springs

I hired Footprints Floors Colorado Springs to install laminate flooring in my basement over a concrete slab. I accepted the contract on February 3, 2026, and work began on February 11, 2026. When installation began, I noticed no moisture barrier had been placed between the concrete and the laminate. I raised this concern with the owner, who told me several times that a barrier was not necessary, that they do not typically use one here in Colorado, and that he personally guarantees his work and would handle any problems if they arose. Based on that conversation, I allowed them to proceed with part of the basement. The following morning, after speaking with other flooring professionals and the manufacturer of the laminate, I learned that a moisture barrier is required for installation over concrete in order to maintain warranty eligibility. I contacted the company and asked that the installation be corrected. The project manager, Eric, stopped work and left for the day. When he returned on February 12 with plastic for the barrier, I noticed the material appeared extremely thin compared to the standard 6-mil vapor barrier I had been told was required. While reinstalling the flooring, he was placing the plastic underneath planks that had already been installed. I questioned whether the material was correct and expressed concern that the flooring might need to be removed again if the barrier did not meet requirements. At that point, he stopped work, told me to speak with the owner, and left the jobsite. I sent the owner a video of the plastic being used, and he acknowledged it was not the correct material. The installer returned the next day, February 13, removed the flooring again, and installed a new plastic barrier before reinstalling the laminate. I informed him I would take a few photos of the barrier for documentation, which he acknowledged was fine. He completed the installation around 6 PM that evening. The following day, after walking the finished floor, I noticed significant issues. In several areas there are loud crinkling sounds under the flooring when walking, and along multiple baseboard edges, particularly in the hallway, the floor visibly moves up and down when stepped on. The amount of movement is substantial and does not appear normal for a newly installed laminate floor. I contacted the company about these concerns shortly after completion. The owner came out to inspect the floor and stated that he did not believe the movement was significant. He suggested that if I wanted the floor leveled, he could arrange for a leveling company to provide a quote. Prior to installation, leveling or slab preparation had never been identified, discussed, or documented. Because of this, I am concerned about being asked to incur additional costs after installation has already been completed. I am seeking a resolution that addresses the movement and stability of the floor and ensures the installation meets manufacturer requirements and performs properly long term.

Eric Valenzuela was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in providing me a complete understanding of how my floors had been cleaned and protected. I would recommend Foot Prints Floors to anyone for any flooring need.

We removed all furniture from the four rooms (too save $$) that they put Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP) flooring which are water proof and scratch poof. Their quote for the same LVP product and installation from two other contractors was significantly lower.

The quality, fit and finish was fantastic. The skill and precision and attention to detail by the workman was top quality. We are glad we went with Footprints, We are so pleased and proud of how nice our floor looks and feel it was a great upgrade. It was a good investment because it looks so great. Hats off to Mike and Eric and the other fellows that did such a fine job.

They did an excellent job refinishing our 122 year old floors. It looks fabulous!! I highly recommend this company. We are not contracting them to finish our floors in some other rooms

Do not use. I know I'm in the minority here, but based on my experience with this company, we are completely dissatisfied. Franchise owner hired third party flooring company that did sub-standard work and had/has very poor attention to detail. They over-sanded several areas, missed a lot of areas with stain, made messes and did not clean up until we pointed out, used our cleaning materials without asking to clean up, requested final balance before work had been completed, made excuses about choice of color stain, made wife feel bad because she picked a dark color, production manager suggested getting a pen at Walmart to color in parts of the floor, have been out two times to make repairs and the three last spots they repaired are worse than they were before and they completely missed a footprint no less than 1 inch from where they were supposed to repair. When franchise owner came out after those 3 spots were repaired...he said it might take 3 or 4 more times to get it right, spoke poorly of crew that did the work and knowing that once a stain is laid it is very difficult to match.... still his suggestion was to repair spots including re-sanding the area corresponding the very deep groove along the baseboard. We had another more reputable company come out and their hardwood expert with 20+ years experience said the only way to repair the missing stain spots, the over-sanded areas and get have consistent stain was to redo the floor entirely. I emailed the owner on the 16th, and as of the 20th I have received no response. There is more to note but this is all I want to remember. Very disappointed.

First of all, we were impressed by the people. They were all so nice, knew their jobs, and were an absolute pleasure to work with. I spoke with the incredibly friendly Wendy to make the appointment for an estimate on re-sanding and refinishing our hardwood floors. I assume she was the one who sent a reminder text the day before Mark was to show up, and although I did not forget, I appreciated knowing they were on top of things. When Mark got here, right when he said he would, it was clear from talking to him that he was knowledgeable and experienced. He gave us a quote and walked us through the process making sure all our questions were answered. Nick and Brandon were the guys who actually worked on our floors. They did a fantastic job and these floors look amazing! When they were finished Eric came by to make sure we were happy and to see if we had any questions or concerns. From start to finish this team of professionals really made this a great experience for us. We would hire them again in a minute and heartily give our recommendation.
