WE DO NOT RECOMMEND We hired Forest Knoll in March 2022 to install a new roof because of their reasonable price, good reviews, their proposal documentation which included a copy of their liability policy information, and because they were recommended by Angi. Forest Knoll apparently hired subcontractors who did not speak English and did not install new flashing as specified in the contract. Our roof leaked where the flashing was reused and now had nail holes through them, and the reused flashing did not cover the shingle gaps because the new shingles were wider than the old ones. The roof leaked internally for 5 months before the water came through the ceiling in August 2022, and in that time caused mold damage throughout the bedroom ceiling, insulation and walls of our primary bedroom. Forest Knoll fixed the flashing within a week of our initial complaint in August 2022, and offered to fix the interior damage, but then did nothing for nearly 3 months - by the time they had a contractor call me to look at the damage in late October 2022, I had already signed a contract with someone else to fix the interior. In the meantime, I had also filed a claim with their insurance company, since Forest Knoll was doing nothing to help us and they had given us a copy of their policy with the contract. After he was contacted by his insurance company for information about the claim, Forest Knoll's owner, Phillip, called me and was furious and extremely rude and condescending. He asked me why I hadn't told him about the damage first and given him a chance to fix it, when I had in fact notified his company immediately, and they had already fixed the flashing, but done nothing about the interior damage. Forest Knoll's insurance company eventually denied our claim in January 2023 stating that Forest Knoll's coverage excludes both shoddy work and all damage related to mold. So in essence, the insurance policy information that Forest Knoll includes in their big sales pitch is worthless. Update 4/2023: My attorney sent Forest Knoll multiple letters demanding payment for the damage they caused, and Forest Knoll had not even tried to work with me on this matter until I filed a complaint with the BBB. Forest Knoll caused about $17,000 in damage to our house, not to mention months of stress, significant inconvenience, and administrative work coordinating the repairs. We had to file a claim with our own insurance, and they only covered about 75% of the repair costs. To resolve the BBB complaint, I asked Forest Knoll to pay for our remaining out-of-pocket repair costs, plus compensate us for loss of use of property and our time dealing with this mess for the last 8 months. I agreed to accept a discounted reimbursement amount and I sent them my countersigned copy of the release agreement as requested on 4/12/2023. Within 4 hours, Forest Knoll texted me a copy of the certified check with written notice that they now required additional unfavorable terms and would only send the check upon my signing and sending them a revised agreement. They followed up by email a few hours later and reiterated that they would not send the check until I signed the new agreement. WE ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND FOREST KNOLL CONSTRUCTION
