The concerns we had with the foundation were serious! Foundation First did an outstanding job to remedy the situation and put our minds at ease. I would highly recommend them! Tera-Firma wanted to install piers all around our entire home which would have cost of thousands upon thousands when we only needed to address a single corner. Well done Foundation First!

DO NOT USE this company.. as a first time home buyer, I hired them on recommendation of my real estate agent who is personal friend of owner Joe. They did 2.5 hrs work to tune of $8.5k, and within a week it was leaking where they worked- I let them know and was told they do not guarantee it. I then got opinions of multiple concrete specialists who let me know that FF drilled into foundation compromising the structural integrity allowing more water in, and did poor work that does not meaningfully correct issues . Joe response was to call me a liar and hang up on me. Awesome huh? Avoid.

If I could give them Zero stars, I would. I signed a contract for foundation repair with Foundations First NW in August 2020. I heard nothing from them until I finally called them in October. They came out and did a skim coat on the foundation to prevent further erosion. I contacted Mike Burrows (the rep I had worked with) in November, December, January and February to enquire about the status of my project. I was told by Mike that the permits were slow because of covid, then I was told the City of Portland was requesting further engineering information, and again I was told that the City was requesting further documentation. On March 5, 2021, I contacted Mike again to request an update and express my feeling that my project had been sidelined for more lucrative projects and since I was not a squeaky wheel my project was not advancing. He assured me that was not true. Three days later I contacted the City Permits Department and learned that the application for permit was filed on March 5, 2021. They checked for August 2020 through February 2021 and there was NO application filed prior to March 5, 2021. I confronted Mike about this fact and was told that they had filed several times but had never had a response from the City. Bottom line -- either Mike Burrows lied to me when he said the City required more documentation or he lied to me when he said they had applied and never heard from the City. Either way, Mike Burrows lied to me. When they finally completed the project on June 16, 2021, it was discovered that their crew had sprayed shotcreet into my basement and covered my open electrical panel with product, as well as some of my tenants tools. I finally spoke with Joe (the other partner) who agreed to meet with me to discuss all of the above. He cancelled our meeting because he was not feeling well, and I have not heard from him since. I would not recommend this company to anyone for anything. I find them to be dishonest when it suits them and less than responsive to requests for information.

So thankful for their flexibility to get the job completed in just a few hours. Very happy with the work.

Everyone on the team is amazing!! Answered all my questions and were very thoughtful and made sure every part of the job was understandable. They showed up on time, completed the job in the time agreed upon and left the site cleaner then they found it!

Very professional and customer focused. He worked with our realtor on inspection and necessary remedies.

Hired Joe for a big and complicated project in our basement. Required excavating, new slab, new walls, beams, posts in a 100+ year old house where nothing was even. Project took longer than planned, but it was largely due to many unforeseen issues. Joe and his crew were professional throughout the whole project, and went above and beyond to help with unscoped additional projects along the way. Best thing about Joe is that he is always accessible. If he misses your call, he calls back within 10 minutes. Not like other contractors I've used where reaching them is a headache. He and his whole team are incredible available and response.

Joe was very professional. He looked at our foundation under the house. He measured corners and levelness of the house and he found only normal foundation settling on a 44 year old house, where as, a competitor found multiple issues. Joe's recommendation saved us thousands of dollars. He did a free inspection and walked away without us spending a penny. He could have told us we had several issues that needed to be fixed and we probably would have believed him, but instead he told us the truth. This gave us the feeling that he was honest and has integrity. We would recommend Joe and his company to all we know.

From beginning to end of the project Joe was in communication and was on time. We had a corner of our house which had settled as well as settling of our deck and Foundations First was able to fix them. I would recommend Foundations First to my friends who need foundation repairs.

If you want a company that is honest and hard working and does good work, then hire these folks! They focused on the issues at hand, provided reasonable pricing and expectations and did not try to take us for more than that. Really appreciate the Foundations First teams integrity - a job well done!

Mike and his team transformed our dirt basement into a great new space that is beyond my expectations. They were hard working, professional, good communicators, craftsmen. Concrete walls, paver floors, reinforced braces under the house. Can not say enough about how happy I am with this company and the quality of their work.

Mike is great!! Punctual and he listens. After looking at the crack in my basement wall, he reassured me that it wasn't an issue. He even gave the name of a product to use on the crack. I am contemplating selling my house. Mike took a photo for reference and told me to contact him if anyone had questions. All this, and he didn't charge me.

Mr. Smith was AWESOME!!!! He shows his vast knowledge about foundations when he answered all my questions. He explained the whole process step by step to a homeowner who was in the middle of escrow. He was patient and understanding. I hired him based on his pricing, which is very reasonable, and his knowledge and customer service skills. Thank you, Sir for a job well done!

Mike and his crew were excellent to work with. They did a great job at a fair price...and finished when promised!

Joe was the BEST. He was very knowledgeable and experienced and it showed. He explained everything along the way. He has very high standards and is meticulous in his work. We were in a home-sale situation (we were the sellers) and we had extremely difficult buyers who insisted on watching Joe do all his work to 'make sure he did it properly'. Joe was a good sport about it & went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable with everything. He came back to make sure everyone was happy. He deserved a much bigger tip than I gave him (I don't usually tip!) and he probably should have charged me more for all the time he put in and putting up with some very difficult people. He was fantastic & I'd highly recommend Foundations First for foundation repair work.

It is good to work with an honest contractor. There are too many GREEDY ones They did everything and more that they said. I will certainly recommend them to anyone needing similar repairs.

I can’t express how much I enjoyed working with this company. The owner came looked at my situation, measured and asked what kind of material i wanted. He gave me the options and how well each one would hold up and what would work best for my situation. The crew was great and explained every step that was happening. The owner was on site everyday checking on progress and helping out. It was middle of July and hot but they pushed through it and completed it on time even though our land was challenging with roots and large boulders. If you want a good true specialist in retaining walls and foundations hire this company.

Joe was prompt, professional, and willing to commute to the Hillsboro rural location. My realtor was concerned about me not using a larger, well known company but I knew we wanted to “keep it local”. Joe drove from Lake Oswego to our new proposed home in Hillsboro to provide a foundation evaluation. We were in fear of the results and bill but were relieved to learn that the foundation was in good condition. Furthermore, Joe wouldn’t accept payment for his time or expertise, even though it was much earned (driving 40 minutes to crawl under an old house). Joe provided a follow up email with his findings which made us feel comfortable to proceed to the next step. Thank you so much for your communication, professionalism, and expertise!
