Exterior Shutters - Repair or Restore
$2
Met with Chris Baldwin on 8/21/17 at the job site after Home Advisor recommended him to me. He spent about a hour taking measurements and took several shutters with him as samples to work with. After numerous attempts to contact him since then and also this morning 9/11/17 we have gotten no response from him. So basically he has our shutters and will not return our calls or make any attempt to give us our shutters back. Such a terrible experience to have since this is the first time as a contractor using Home Advisor to locate sub contractors for me. PS. The only reason he got a 0.5 rating was because I could not finish the survey unless I checke at least one in each category.

Chain Link Fence - Install
$1,050
We made an agreement with the contractor “Franklin Fix It” to conduct a fence project in our property in New Orleans on August 28, 2017. The agreement is “to install 40 feet of wooden picket fence with 1 gate with 20 feet of chain link fence no gates and haul all the trash away”. We were offered to pay the contractor with credit card without any convenience fee for a total of $1,000. The contract was signed on August 30, 2107. The contractor initially agreed to start the project on September 2, 2017 and then he postponed the project to September 3 for no reason, and then postponed the project again to September 4. Finally the contractor was able to start the project on September 6. The contractor promised to finish the project within the same day but could not finish it on September 6. The contractor then promised to finish the job on the morning of September 7. At noon on September 7, the contractor met us at our workplace stating that the job was completed and asked for a payment of $1050 (i.e. $1000 for original fence project plus $50 to haul extra trash (i.e. 2 sinks in our backyard) away). We specifically asked the contractor if he had already hauled all the trash away and the contractor stated yes. We believed what the contractor told us and then handed the check to the contractor. It turns out that the contractor immediately cashed the check on September 7. At 6pm, after work, we arrived at our property and found that the contractor did not haul a single piece of trash away but simply piled the trash up at the side of our house. Due to the nature of the trash, it won’t be picked up by the regular sanitation service. Unlike what the contractor promised, the top rail also misses on the chainlink fence. Without the top rail, the fence is very unstable. At night of September 7, we were finally able to reach the contractor, and he insisted that they finished the job and refused to haul the trash away. We then told the contractor that we would sue them for breach of contractor. And the contractor stated that his partner is an attorney and they would counter sue us if we sue them and then immediately sent another invoice of $2000 to us without any reason and he has not responded to our messages since.
