Fresh Coat Painters of Canfield

April 24, 2020 my wife and I entered into a contract with Fresh Coat Painters of Canfield for the painting of our home. Per our contract, Fresh Coat was paid 1/3 down with the remainder to be paid when the job was completed. Tuesday, July 28, 2020 Fresh Coat arrived to begin painting our home. Friday, July 31, 2020 Fresh Coats painter "Justin" spray-painted the outside of the house without covering or protecting the sandstone foundation and steps - coating the sandstone with gray paint overspray. Fresh Coat will not clean the paint off (They were told - verbally and in writing - do NOT paint the sandstone). The painting that has been done is sub-standard: sagging, runs, peeling paint that was not scraped off, just painted-over, and trim / edging color overlaps sloppily onto the house color. (There are honeybees painted onto the wall of the house!) Friday, August 14, 2020 Fresh Coats painter "Justin" was instructed by me to correct the thick paint trails and to feather (blend) paint in the area where he had stopped and restarted rolling the second coat on the front porch floor (just as I had to tell him when he did the first coat). He refused, then told me to "stop complaining and go back into the house". I then instructed "Justin" to finish painting the porch then get off of my property. The thick paint trails and unfeathered area on the porch remains very visible and "Justin" took the paint with him when he left, so I could not repaint it myself. I immediately called and left a voicemail with Fresh Coat owner, Don J****, and informed him as to what had occurred (Don was out of town - he had told me, before he left, that the painting would be completed by the time he returned). Saturday, August 15, 2020 Fresh Coat removed all of their equipment. Monday, August 17, 2020 Don J**** returned and told me he was losing money and Fresh Coat will not finish painting the house - but he did want $1000. So, as of today, September 5, 2020 my house is only partially painted because the Fresh Coat Painters of Canfield employees were taking so long to complete the job that the owner, Don J****, backed out of our contract. I now have to hire someone to fix the substandard paint job and finish painting the house. I don't know, yet, if the paint can be cleaned off the sandstone without further damaging the stone.

They did an excellent job. Workers were professional. They workered well together and were receptive to what we wanted. Neatness was always in mind by the use of dropcloths, masking tape, and plastic coverings. They always cleaned up superbly.
