"As long as we are allowed to finish a project even while on delays or other issues out of our control, we finish each and everyone of our projects. Customer was nice at first. Then, became belligerent with demands and timelines he set in concrete to be met in place which, we were not going to meet realistically. Asked him politely as I could under the big pressure me and my team found ourselves with weather and other delays, to please give me sometime to come and finish his deck. Gave him my word as a man I was going to finish his deck he worked in good faith with us. To which he made it clear threats of lawsuits, complaints, bad reviews, making it clear should we not submit to his unreasonable demands, we were facing great punishment from him in forms described above. He expressed he was going to put me out of business. We managed to survive even though we lost money on his project and we are still suffering the damages for it wasn't that long ago. In our entire history with "G and H Home Improvements, llc" we have not left a project unfinished! No matter the circumstances that had caused us delays in each project including the lost of money as it also happened with the dishonorable Douglas M. in New Market, MD who is a man with no morals in saying such things as we helped him during that super cold winter pass inspections so he could sell his property. Admitted to my team was a bad business decision from day one. But, we still finished his job. Right, Mr Douglas? We have finish every one of them, except Mr. C[Consumer name withheld at their request]. That because he decided not to work with us. He simply did not allow us to complete his project. Thank you."
"We Power-washed 80 LF of Newly Installed Rails Plus about a 1200 Square Feet of your Deck including newly built stairs for minimum wage labor as he cried he had helped his buddy too much money already. We demolished previously Built Stairs Connecting a lower and upper deck at a height of about 12FT with three landings and about 80LF of newly installed rails around your old and new stairs. Corrected a long list of items which like the newly built stairs and Rails by your friend, failed the Frederick County Inspection which you were required to correct by a county order. All of which items, we demo and rebuilt, and corrected for only $3,750.00 for Labor and Materials. A project of such magnitude would've easily cost you around $17,000 if not more is priced correctly by the books. However, as I met with you that night and you expressed your frustration with all your money lost on that project, I, with my lead manager, made the decision to help you at a great money saving rate not for us to make any money, but to keep the workers busy for it was the cold season and have a happy customer who would hire us again for all his deck needs in the future. The biggest mistake on your project from our part didn't come out of "Never Think with your Heart when doing Business" But, in believing we could use a lot of the newly installed materials from the wrongly installed stairs with we had to demo by county order. By saving as much as we could from the wrongly installed wood we would save on the costs on materials needed, we thought. Then with whatever money is left, we would pay the workers their wages accordingly. Such was not the case. We miscalculated. We couldn't reuse any of the material previously installed for the newly required lengths were cut too short on the rails steps, rises, posts to the point everything had to be purchased including the lager bolts which couldn't be reused either for they were not even the right thicknesses. At this moment, it is when I reached up to you and informed you of the problems we were facing. That the price we have agreed upon was barely to cover for the materials. Your answer was that we have a contract. That it is my mistake and not yours. You were going to think it with your wife and you were going to let me know what you thought and decision on the issues were. Then, you came back and proposed we power-wash and stain your decks at the price of $1000-something and give us the extra $1000 to cover for your project expenses which was a great win-win situation for you from miles away. We agreed on it since it was indeed our mistake. Finished your project. Passed all inspections before the due dates in late March. I always kept in touch with you. Gave you update. Except for one occasion the crew didn't show up due to the severe cold weather around 15 degrees with high winds in your New Market, MD area and didn't inform me, so I didn't inform you in return as I would have done. Out of all the years we had been in the business, it was the first time I had wrongly calculated in the materials and let me tell you, it was a frustrating experience for me and my right-hand man who helped me through it. However, we made it. We finished your project. It passed all the inspections in due time. And, we were able to say "Mission Accomplished." This helps us as a reminder one simple mishap or mistake can definitely make the difference between a happy customer. And unhappy one. You sold your property thanks to our work. Had a clear idea on your personality after the way you treated the inspector assigned to inspect the project. You have no respect or morals towards those who work hard so you can live an easy life Mr Douglas."
