When you find one like this, you need to let everyone know!! We bought a home in Unicoi, TN about five years ago and have always wanted to replace the garage doors. Other than the typical Lowes and Home Depot options, there just aren't many installers to choose from in East Tennessee. After getting astronomical quotes and limited color selections, I stumbled across Garage Door Xpress in Johnson City. The website was one of the most professional sites I've seen, and after reading the positive reviews I called them. Having dealt with numerous contractors and subcontractors rehabbing homes over the years, sometimes they never showed up, but Sam showed up on time and was ready to discuss our project. Right off the bat, Sam was professional about his approach and you could tell he had done this many times before, which was reassuring. After picking out a style and color, we decided to move forward with the project. The last time we trusted a contractor that we thought was polished and professional, we ended up in arbitration for two and a half years. Needless to say, we were cautious, but optimistic after meeting him. From the start, Sam provided routine communication about the order, the process and shipping times. Since these would be custom doors, it was about an eight week wait for delivery. Let me just say, that after serving in the military, there are things you instinctively look for in people you work with or hire. Sam is a unicorn. He was on-time, efficient, very detailed-oriented and professional. His Get-Er-Done approach was nothing short of amazing. Once he started working, you could clearly see this was not his first rodeo. His demeanor and work ethic was a masterclass in doing the job right. I rarely write reviews that mean anything, but Sam is just a different breed and it was worth noting. It was absolutely refreshing to deal with a professional who stuck to his price, did the installation with enthusiasm, and the finished product was absolutely beautiful. He did all the little things you would normally do after the contractor was gone. From programming our vehicle buttons to open the garage doors to ensuring the place was clean and tidy. Heck, even all the wiring was straight and very clean looking. In closing, we just wanted to thank Sam for an outstanding installation from start to finish, dotting all the I's and crossing all the T's and ensuring a smooth, efficient and professionally installed product. Money well spent!! Absolutely highly recommend!!

Our garage door was not opening all the way or not at all. We searched for advice and help from several companies. Most companies told us that it would be a week or more before they could get to us. We saw some good reviews about Sam at GDX. We called and he got with us that afternoon and let us know that we had a broken spring. His price for replacing and fixing the garage door was the best we had received. He was there the next day to do the repair! He was professional, gave straight answers to questions. Best service we have had in years!
