Despite telling me they are finished for over a month, They keep having to come back because their paint is chipping/peeling/cracking off the house. Also, they left paint chips everywhere and refuse to clean their mess satisfactorily. Every time they say they have addressed the problems, I find more chips on the ground and other areas where paint is coming off the house already. Besides failing to paint properly, or clean up their mess, I note the following: 1. They splashed paint on my roof deck, which I use. Supposedly their insurance is going to pay for it. They claim their company will call me, but they haven't. Now, they want me to call their insurance to repair their damages. Why are they putting me in the position of having to chase their company when they damaged my property? 2. The first crew smoked, getting annoying smoke in my house and throwing their butts in my rain barrel. 3. Same crew destroyed about 10 mature plantings in two beds near the house. When I told the owner, the crew pulled the plants out and hid them and claimed they were weeds. Gardner offered me $150 for 10 plants....these cost $50-100 new each, plus the cost to have them planted, mulched etc. 4. The owner accused me of using a metal tool to scrape paint off. Right in front of him I popped a huge blister with my fingernail. 5. Owner said, standing near my front steps, that all chips were cleaned up. There were/are chips, on the front steps of my house still. 5. My fault, I didn't read the contract carefully, but they omitted sanding from the job. Every other contractor bid the job around the same price, and included sanding, not just scraping. Read their quote very carefully. 6. They painted at least two days in the morning when rain was forecast for the afternoon. They say this is OK, I believe it contributed to the adherence problems. 7. When I saw the poor job the first crew was doing, I contacted the owners who told me that I was being picky, and should wait until they were finished to complain. So I did. But I tried to avoid this, because I saw it coming. Owner also said the crew at my house had gotten great reviews for them. One of the crew of two told me it was his first job for Gardner. 8. I had told their quote person Natalie, the first crew and the owners that paint chips were zero tolerance because I have a puppy, grandchild, children and gardens. There are still chips around my house. 9. The owners constantly wanted me to do a walkthrough, but I refuse to do a punch list until they clean up the obvious problems. There's no need for a punch list when I can find peeling paint and chips on the ground within 2 feet of the front door. I can only imagine what I'm going to find when I check the soffit and fascia. So today, as a result of Gardner Painting working at my house, we have the following: 1. A poor paint job that began cracking and peeling immediately. 2. Paint chips in my lawn, flower beds, driveway, stairs and under my deck. 3. Paint splattered on my deck that supposedly their insurance is going to cover but I haven't heard from. 4. 10 plants destroyed then pulled out, for which they've offered me $15/plant. If anyone knows a landscaper that will do this, please let me know. Gardner says they are done trying to clean up and repair their poor paint job. If I don't take the $150 for the plants and their promise of insurance on the roof deck, and pay them in full, they will put a lien on my house. They're threatening me on the same day I sent them 14 pictures each with paint coming off the house or chips on the ground. There are a lot of other painters, I would avoid these g...
