Working with Henry and his crew made our renovation on a landmark townhouse a breeze. He was recommended by a friend on our block who also worked with henry to renovate a historic brownstone, where he preserved the history of the house in a way that sets it apart from the rushed and vanilla box renovations. He was similarly attentive to the details of our house and was able to work at lightning speed, always with care. What most sets Henry apart is incredible customer service. This was our first time renovating a house and we had a lot to learn. Henry showed us the ropes on how to manage a renovation. He walked us through everything with patience and transparency-- how to set a budget, a work schedule, change orders, where it made sense to do work ourselves versus using a contractor or outside vendor. He really cares about what is best for you and your house, and we felt that every step of the way.

Henry and his crew are by far the greatest contractor/builder/renovator out there. He did a complete gut reno on my bath. He was honest, transparent, and did the most excellent work. There is no question at all, if you are thinking of hiring a contractor, Gecko is the one.

Henry and his crew were fantastic. They squeezed me in on a weekend to paint a new apartment for me. They were on time, efficient and completed the work so quickly and did a fantastic job. I would happily recommend them to anyone with renovation needs.

I am very impressed and happy with the quality of my kitchen renovation via Gecko Builds. As a disclaimer, this was our first big project via a HomeAdvisor referred contractor. Henry provided measurements, styling tips, and the countertop specialist. When the project was delayed, Henry provided prompt updates, and the status of the renovation. During the renovation when issues arose, Henry provided updates, and ways to resolve such issues, which ultimately increased our spending on the renovation. His crew was reduced to him and another contractor, and as a result, the renovation took longer than the expected 3 days. However, his 2-person crew worked on my kitchen each day, except the weekends, until the renovation was complete. I found Henry and his crew to be pleasant, professional, accommodating and pet-friendly (we have a 70lb pit-bull). Not sure if I should mention, but Henry and his crew threw in some freebies; more importantly, they were helpful when something could be improved without my asking. One thing meant mentioning, to which my husband and I disagree, Henry mentioned a major flooring issue to my husband after the kitchen renovation was on its way. My husband thought this issue should have been mentioned earlier, so that we could discuss how and at what price the flooring issue be remedied (what’s the point of having a beautiful kitchen if the flooring that sustains the beautiful kitchen is weak). On the other hand, I think Henry rightfully got the impression that our renovation had exceeded our overall budget and that the discussion of how much remedying the floor would cost would be futile. Ultimately, it was confirmed with my husband that the flooring would be okay for now. Nevertheless, I have a fully-functional kitchen that’s playful, fresh, safe for our toddler, practical based on its small size, electrically-sound (we added a dish washer) and fashionably modern thanks to Gecko Builds. As a result, I highly recommend Gecko Builds to complete your renovation.

With his background in cabinet making, he possesses great technical skill and keen attention to detail. His excellent communication, organization and management skills meant that the project ran very smoothly and any changes we discussed were implemented right away. His high personal work standards meant that he generally would notice an issue before we did and formulate a plan to fix it before speaking to us about it. It made the entire renovation so much less stressful! We cannot recommend him highly enough and have no intention to ever use anyone else for future projects.
