A âfirst-timeâ homeowner in 2010, I used the YP to contact local roofing contractors for quotes on my single-car garage and house (1-3/4 style, shingles to front, rubber to rear.) I was frankly stunned by the prices, dismayed by the âdiscountâ gimmicks, and put-off by the âgamesâ between what I was reading versus what I was told plus âclosing pressureâ tactics. Absent âneedâ at that time, I tabled the matter but gained useful (ah) insights. Spring '16 brought âneedâ nearer, and I sought two quotes: one from a prior reliable source (in unrelated matters), and turned to HomeAdvisor for the second. The latter was Nick Gellings. Nick's initial return contact was âsame day.â The inspection appointment was âwithin daysâ and âon time.â Nick is, simply, impressive. Friendly and personable in making acquaintance, he became a focused professional when going about his business â in the manner of a person thoroughly familiar with his trade and completely confident in his expertise. There were no âgimmicksâ or âgamesâ, just a straightforward approach to assessing my (actual) needs, then back to an easy conversation regarding his findings and his proposed solution(s) His ability to âlistenâ proved as exceptional as his ability to âexplain.â From this one interaction, I knew I'd found âMYâ roofing contractor! Oh â and the (detailed) âquoteâ was emailed to me (in .pdf) within a few days, with a âpriceâ that surely pleased! Perhaps more importantly, though, is the nature of the ârelationshipâ that Nick built with this THEN still-prospective customer. 'Back last May, I explained A LOT about my overall situation to Nick: He didn't just âlistenâ, he âremembered.â Then a certain situation developed late last Fall, and I emailed Nick about it. He responded very promptly with a pledge to resolve my dilemma IN TIME (by mid-Feb) despite the fact that he was already booked-out for some months beyond my âdeadline.â How did THAT work out? PROBLEM SOLVED by Nick more than an entire month âearly!â But that isn't the full story. Mid-December brought yet another (externally-imposed) crisis that blind-sided me from one end and sand-bagged me at the other. Once again I emailed Nick, and once again he had-my-back â not just in proposing a âsolutionâ but also in pledging to effect it IN TIME â with a âwindowâ of not months or even weeks but days!) As it happens, this last crisis was averted (by me, it happens) â but that's not my point. Which is . . . WHO DOES THAT? What âcontractorâ have you ever known/heard of who rides-to-the-rescue of a small-time residential client anything remotely LIKE THIS? TWICE!? I'm now aware of ONE â and his name is Nick Gellings, of Gellings Roofing & Siding, LLC. Bye-the-way: Upon my request, Nick provided me with a list of References In the future, I'll be on it â and will gladly make myself âa
