Generator Exchange, LLC

We used Generator Exchange LLC for maintenance work on a 5 year old Generac 22kW generator - this included (4) valve clearance adjustments and 2 new spark plugs. I filled in their online service request form & was contacted later that same business day by their office to review exactly what I needed & was provided a competitive quote verbally within a few minutes. We agreed on a scheduled date/time with a 4 hour window (8-12), which was only 3 days later (off season in Feb.). I received a text message confirming the scheduled date/time & the name of service technician (Logan). I received a text message confirming the day before & also when Logan was about 20 minutes away. Logan arrived at 8 AM on the scheduled day of and efficiently completed the requested services. The weather was 26F & the battery was good, but the cable connections were weak - Logan cleaned & tightened those connections, & the Generator started & ran flawlessly. The invoice was emailed hours later - paid online.

I have had a whole house generator since 2006. I have done business with 3 companies in my area and this company, Generator Exchange, hands down has given me more for less than all the others. My contact was Russell Baukus and he did EVERYTHING he said he would AND MORE. We had one little hiccup, (NOT Generator Exchanges fault), and he was on it immediately and went BEYOND my expectation to correct and resolve it sending his crew out to double check all settings and doing a complete annual maintenance schedule & inspection FREE even wanting to reimburse me my propane cost used while my generator was running!! His remark to me that his hand shake meant more to him than a piece of paper, (the contract) reaffirmed to me he was exactly the person I was glad to be doing business with! Oh and did I say he beat all the other bids I had received, and not by just a little bit! I strongly urge you to make him your "Generator Man" or at the very least give him a chance as I'm sure you will be as satisfied as I am. Also before I close I want to express how impressed I was with the men he sent out to install and work on my generator. They are both very knowledgeable and very informative explaining many things to me that no one in the previous 11 years of service ever did, I hate to overwork anyone but if you get the chance to have Aron sp? and Ronnie consider yourself in good hands.

Lowest price and outstanding service. I was skeptical at first to have someone come to my house and determine my needs. It felt like a sales call to me to "up sell" me. This was not the case at all. Russell, an electrician with 35+ years experience came to my home after hours and quoted me a much lower price than I expected and quoted me what I needed with no "up sell" or pressure. They installed my 32 kW Generac generator later that week. The installation was professional, the installation crew was professional, and they answered all of my questions and even followed up with at least two phone calls to make sure everything was in order and to see if I had any other questions. There are other choices for generators, but the professionalism and punctuality of Generator Exchange is the best I have ever experienced in 20+ years of being a homeowner. I wish these guys could also be my A/C guys. I am happy to review Generator Exchange and I give them my absolute highest recommendation.

Nothing else to offer

These guys were the best price by far. Because the ground was hard and the outside temperatures hot they had to take an additional day to do my install. They still stuck to the agreed-to price. They cut a sprinkler cable while digging, but were honest about it and took care of the problem. They checked the sprinkler to make sure it was fixed before they left.

Good value for money. Kept me informed of the progress of the work.

3 days from phone call to install. None of the other people that quoted me could do it in less than 14 days. Russell knew of our urgency and had the crew working second shift to get this done. For the other bids, dinner at 5:00 PM was the priority and not my needs. HIRE WITHOUT HESITATION! 5 stars!

These guys are straight shooters. Russell will get you what you need and both he and Ronnie supervise your install. Ronnie does all the electrical work and knows the answer to any questions you may have about the generator. Russell will try to work within your budget but also let you know you can get a whole-house generator for 12K to 14K depending on how far electrical/gas lines need to be trenched on your property. My house is 2585 Sq.ft. and lines had to be ran 75 feet resulting in an additional 2K so my cost for a 22KW generator was $13,510 for the whole install. So, if you can get your generator unit close to your electrical panel and gas meter the cost is reduced significantly and you may be able to do the same size generator for about 11.5K. I am not big on telling people what to do but I will tell you if you lower your generator purchase from 22KW to a 16KW to save money, this is a huge mistake. The difference in cost is about $1,000. The install costs are relatively the same for all installs--this means there are plumbing, electrical, trenching and permits for every install and these are costs when added to the generator purchase are fairly static--so the only real way you can cut your cost is to buy a smaller generator--but when you consider increasing your generator from 11KW to 16KW or even 22KW only costs about $1,000 per jump to the next level you can see this not a smart move to save only 1K to 2K. What I am trying to say here: if you are going to have to spend 10K on an 11KW generator but it will only run half the items in your house and possible not even your Air Conditioning unit, jumping to a 22KW will only increase your cost by about $2,000 and you will be able to run your entire house. I could understand if reducing your installation to a 16KW or 11KW cut the cost in half but it does not because all the items I mentioned above are static costs no matter what size generator you install--so please, spend the extra $2,000 to get the right size unit. Ok, that is all the advice I have on your purchase. They also extended the 2 year bumper to bumper warranty to 5 years for purchasing their 5 year maintenance contract for $444 a year. This is a deal--if you shop all your generator options you will find the general warranty is 2 years and extensions cost about $1,200 to $1,500 to extend to a 5-year warranty. If you do the math and are interested in extending your generator warranty to 5 years, Generator Exchange is handling all your maintenance and any issues that may occur for three years before you even start to incur any cost beyond the 5-year warranty extension. For the annual fee of $444, which you can pay monthly or all at once, they install a smart meter on your generator so when it cuts on every two weeks (you can select whatever interval you think is appropriate) they receive a report and can run diagnostics on your unit. Also, if a hurricane/tropical storm is imminent you can turn your generator on
