We hired do home improvement to replace are are deck about 2 years ago. We talked with carmine and told him what we wanted and signed the cot and put money down. The workers hired were in the late 60â s. There workmen ship was very bad. They did not put a new bearded on the house they just used the old braces and sisters the new boards into the old ones. They did not follow the contract with putting privacy fence at the ends of the deck on each side. Carmine never otcam out to check on there work. I had to have my friend come out and held me but 6x6 and 2x10 to help shop the beck more against the house and we added more to the center of the deck to take the bounce out. After taking width carmine when he called and said they were completely done he never came out to check on the completed deck he just wanted the rest of his money. I would not recommend him to my enemies ⠦⠦.

Carmine at DK home improvements will say anything to get you hooked, then when its time to do the job NOTHING! He has no communication skills- he doesnâ t check in on his team at all- He will only call you back in regards to money. Carmine told us that the deck and pergola would be a total of 2 weeks and be done by the end of July. We understand that things happen, and materials are backed up but the deck itself did not get completed until October 8th, and Devin and Tony took 3 weeks to build it! That doesnâ t include the holes and posts. Carmine also kept saying- next week we will start- next week we will start. It wasnâ t the fact that we were being held up by material, but by how his team dragged on the projects. Tony and Devin showed up between 1030 and 1130 each day- took a lunch break and left at 4 and used our restroom ALL day. They took their time setting up their tents and cleaning up after. I do not even blame Tony and Devin- Carmine never once showed to check on his team, Surprise visits are imperative to keep projects on a timely schedule. I asked them to finish one part of the railing and devin looked at me and said â we already started to clean up! This was after 2 ½ weeks of them being there. Devin was usually the only one working since Tony was dealing with customers that carmine upset. Tony and Devin did a beautiful job- it was just too long when it simply could have been done in a week. I would not recommend this company to anyone unless you do not care how long the project will take. Carmine does not communicate and Tony and Devin work at their own pace and their own hours.

I hired Carmine to build a deck and gave him a $9250.00 deposit, no work has been done, all of the communications has been thru text message and he always has an excuse, we asked for a refund on 7/5/2021 and have not heard anything from him since

I DO NOT RECOMMEND DK AT ALL! My project was agreed upon in Aug, 2020, and I made a considerable down payment. The project was to be a Fall Project, this was written on my signed agreement. I did not see an ounce of work done until Dec, 2020, and that was 2-hours worth of work on that day only. The footers were dug that day and were not deep enough and not aligned properly. Absolutely no work at all until Feb, 2021. My project was finally complete today, April, 2021. The communication is awful. When you call the number, you ALWAYS have to leave a voicemail. The only way to get through was to continually call over and over. I have a history of texts back and forth since Aug, 2020 with absolutely no action from them. I was always the one contacting them. They never initiated a call or text to explain every single delay. Excuses were made for the materials not coming in, or promised that it will be another 2 weeks, or oh by the beginning of November my guys will be able to start, or I am waiting to hear back from someone. They made promises and deadlines that were never met. The cost of the project was WAY overpriced!!! The ironic thing is that the project took 9 months to complete with nothing but aggravation, but do not you know the day the project was done, I did get a phone call from them -- for the final payment. Did not deliver on the signed agreement or any promises made to me, but boy oh boy, when the project was done, he wanted his money. I have lived and learned from this experience. It has been nothing but stress and a few heated conversations with them. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND DK TO ANYONE.

"I?m very disappointed at this review by Joan we could hardly get materials in the fall by time the materials come in Winterset and hard this year we rode through it and build her a beautiful deck and porch lot of extra stuff we just did she was very upset and I could not appease her and explain to her what she did not care about Covid or materials or anything it was all the companies fault to this point I stopped when the job was done she loves everything and still wants to hurt us it is very unfair!!I"

The communications is awful. Weeks and and weeks and wont hear. I have multiple finishing touches and a door still left on top of the underdeck system on deck and fully paid as they insisted so they could continue to have money to work per them. 33k in One door they put on doesnt fit and gapes. Another door still hasnt been finished. Project started in April and still have a hole below deck for under deck system. The contractor keeps saying will come out, then no contact and ghosts me. The deck itself seems sturdy. Will post pics but beware.

Took months to act, was always there for payment, did not finish two projects, was hired in March 2020, the patio was done well. Patio door and outside stairs finally finished; patio door and outside railing not finished by 10 September 2020. Can not get a hold of them, always get excuses or no answer on the phone. Would like permits for the project, as well. We have paid almost the entire cost of the project. ($25,850 so far) Maybe that is why we can not get them to come back and finish their jobs. D K ordered the wrong door, we went to Home Depot and bought the right size door, the other door is still in our garage. They just can not be bothered. UPDATE 11/25/2020: DK was supposed to build two new railings, as well. Were paid at the same time in spring. After complaining again to Home Advisor measurements taken (third time) - to date, absolutely nothing had been done. We will get the Better Business Bureau involved now, too. And possibly a lawyer since nothing helps. Never heard a word about the money they owe us: We paid for the patio door twice. I wish I never had hired that company nor used Home Advisor. UPDATE 01/04/2021: DK paid what we had overpaid. Parts for railings delivered weeks ago and sitting in our driveway. That is all. No work is done. Nothing. Do we wonder if this project will ever be finished at all? Any advice for us HomeAdvisor? UPDATE 01/22/21: The crew came by to start the railings. Measurements taken 4 different times were wrong and the parts need to be exchanged. Again, no information on the timetable. The incompetence remains to be unbelievable. UPDATE 3/22/21: NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! NOTHING! The parts for the railings are still rotting in our driveway. Calls go unanswered. And HomeAdvisor does not return calls nor e-mails anymore, either. Guess it is time for lawsuit and lawyers to get involved. This is a one-year-long nightmare. UPDATE 3/27/21: The railing has been finished. Leftover parts and packing has been removed. Finally.

"We were just out of Gabriele's home last week. The deck is finished and turned out beautiful. Stairs turned out really nice applied Rhino Shield covering for a no slippery surface and pleasing appearance. We did get the other door out of her garage Inside finish work for the sliding glass door is being worked on. As of now, we are still waiting for the vinyl railing which was on backorder. Railing will be installed as soon as it is delivered. We ran into different issues due to delays in production. We apologize for any inconvenience by these delays. we are working on the railing now will be finished soon, thank god. the railing is installed and cust called to let me know how nice it looks . This was a terrible experience from start to finish, shoddy workmanship, and unreliability with zero communication. Six weeks out the boards and railings are pulling apart. Nothing is level or flush and the cuts are terrible, nothing lines up. No structural integrity. I only wish I could include the attempts at contacting Carmine and photographs. We are going to have to replace the entire thing.

"Once I became aware of Natalie's discontent with the workmanship? I wanted to make things right... I told her we would rectify the issues she had. She rejected this option, and would not give us the opportunity to remedy any of the things she was unhappy with. Wanting to bring some sort of resolution to the situation, she was refunded all monies paid by her. She was able to keep all of the materials purchased and delivered. By doing all of this, I was hoping we could bring this to an amicable solution. also, we paid for materials and labor and returned all their funds. Natalie appeared honorable so I'm disappointed about this review because of the carpenter's illness."

Deck is beautiful, Joe and crew were excellent. My only issue is they offer 30 yr transferable warranty which was not presented to me at end of job, or information on deck material used. This is needed for future home sale. Please mail or email me this information, a verbal statement is not sufficient.

They came, they checked on the people working and made sure everything was going well. They were always available if I had questions. They did an impeccable job. They cleaned up after themselves. Everything is perfect. I haven't had any issues with all of the work they did.
