Our name is derived from a biblical principle, which has traditionally been referred to as the Golden Rule: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. We run our business by this principle by providing the service and products we would want for ourselves. We are a full-service building company. From excavation to custom building your new home, providing in-house custom cabinetry, remodeling and adding decks and fencing, landscaping and maintaining your lawn, to supplying gazebos and vinyl furniture for your patio and yard, we can be your-one stop contractor. Joel Barkman, owner, started Golden Rule Builders in 1987, building the first several houses as spec homes. The company gradually developed into our specialty, custom building. As we grew, the need for a Remodeling division emerged, as well as Landscaping and Decking and Fencing divisions, in order to better serve our community.
