Golden Rule Carpentry takes pride and pleasure in one-at-a-time quality craftsman trim projects. Interior trim, exterior trim installations, interior painting, drywall repairs, deck installations, deck repair (sorry, we don't stain or pressure wash decks) , door installs-you name it! if its trim carpentry related we will take care of it with attention to detail and a level of perfection that can only be guaranteed by years of experience. We are highly skilled in all trades but prefer to focus on craftsman trim and interior work. We execute each job from start to finish one at a time when possible, instead of having multiple jobs going on in different places at once. This allows us to better focus on quality craftsmanship, attention to detail and maximum productivity and quality throughout. We thank you Nashville!

Exemplary! Jason delivered based on his recommendations and suggestions for our damaged fence and deck. During a bad storm, a large tree fell on our wooden fence and deck. I found good reviews online about Jason Mechler of Golden Rule and hired him. He explained the scope of work for rebuilding and repairing our damaged property. He and his crew worked hard and we are pleased with the result. I am convinced Golden Rule contractors are the best in Nashville because of Jason's attitude, character and work ethic. His knowledge, professionalism and respectfulness set him apart from several other contractors that bid on this job. His price was competitive for the work that had to be done. If you want the job done right, hire Jason Mechler of Golden Rule. His expertise on fence and deck building and repair is valuable to homeowners who are met with the hard work and challenges of home maintenance and repair. He is undoubtedly one of the best in the Nashville area and in demand.

Jason provided a timely response to my request and at a reasonable price. The job was going great until I questioned his request for half of the final installment (which per his authored agreement, would not be due until completion of the job). That's when his professionalism went out the window. I was told I was just not being agreeable (which a couple days prior he stated in a text, he really appreciated my flexibility with the change in schedule). He was not only unprofessional, but condescending, belittling, and I'm pretty sure took advantage of the situation because I was a female. I understand he needed to pay his help, but I hired Jason and we mutually agreed to his scope of work and payment schedule (all of this in his writing). Based solely on his behavior, I advised that his services were no longer needed and that we needed to just settle up for the portion completed (and I do have witnesses that were listening to the conversation via phone), he advised me that I apparently needed the money more than him, consider it a Christmas Bonus, and then came back to my door to tell me about all the "extras" he had to do for me, that my deck was a falling down mess (although a couple days earlier, it had a few bad support boards, but was otherwise fine). Jason may provide quality work at a fair price, but I cannot excuse his behavior and in good conscience recommend him or his business to anyone else.
Response by Golden Rule Carpentry: Let me just say ms Eller was a joy to work for. The job of re-decking should have taken one day to complete as she assured me the deck structure itself was in good shape. It was not. The deck probably should have been torn down nonetheless I had popped the top on this can of worms and put my name on it so I had to do what I could to get the deck structurally sound and it took all day I had to put THREE beams underneath it. This is all extra work beyond the agreed upon scope. She didn't want to pay for the extra work I did to salvage her deck structure, she didn't want to pay for the extra materials and informed me when I got back from getting extra materials for the extra work that she wasn't going to pay for my guys standing around who stood around all of 45 minutes to an hour while I went to store for more materials. she was saying oh MY god and doing that thing where you touch your forehead with both hands... over and over and then she called someone and kept frantically waving her phone at me telling me you're on speaker phone it was so over the top hysterical I told her to just keep the money. It was very entertaining.

I felt that given the situation job was done fairly well for circumstances - however his professionalism was lacking. He was on the phone at one time outside while working and was very loud and very profane. I felt this was very inappropriate.
Response by Golden Rule Carpentry: I would sincerely like to apologize to mr Abdo for the events described. In my defense, later on that day I was attacked by the person I was arguing with over the phone and I had to call 911 on the person to have them removed from my presence (not the customers home, a separate location). Construction is full of colorful people who work hard and play hard and sometimes play gets the best of them. We all like to do our best to be exemplars of professionalism but sometimes we fall short. That's why god gives us the glory of a new day, every day!
