"Repair projects can be frustrating, because sometimes when one issue is fixed, it highlights another. This customer did, in fact, have leaks along the sides of her dormers which were identified in our original inspection. Our diagnosis, and the solution we proposed, was discussed with her in detail before we began our repair. After 25+ years in the construction industry, I have learned not to rush into any project without having a consensual agreement between parties. Once we fixed the original issue, new problems became evident. Siding will crack if it is bent or manipulated in cold weather, so much of the delay in this case was to prevent further damage to her siding. Once we returned and diagnosed further, we discovered that the window on her dormer was leaking. This had nothing to do with our original project, and the water issue stemming from the bad window was masked by leakage fixed with our original repair. When presented with the findings of our inspection, this customer did not like that there would be additional fees to fix her home. It is unfortunate that she feels the way she does about the situation, but if presented the same issue again, I wouldn't change our approach. The window issue was not evident until the original work was completed."
