Stamped Concrete - Install
I hired this company but fired them before the work began. They gave me three dates to begin the work, but did not follow through. I lost all trust in them.

"Wilma I am so sorry you had a bad experience. Due to one of the rainiest springs in history we had to reschedule many of our jobs not just yours. We kept you updated each time we rescheduled. Our goal is to treat all of our customers with respect and fairness. I know it was frustrating but it's simply not possible to dig in mud, grade and pour concrete when the ground is saturated. We will not push to install a project if the results will be less than great because of the weather conditions."

Green Earth installed a mulch bed and replaced shrubs in front of my house two years ago, removed other shrubs (not replaced), and reseeded where shrubs weren't replaced. Initially it looked pretty good, but the seeding was patchy and a weed block wasn't installed under the mulch. (While surface weeds could stuff grow in spite of a weed block, it probably would have helped against some of the ones with tap roots.) I will say that, two years later, the shrubs they installed are still doing well, and it's a big improvement over what was there. If I were to do it again, I would have insisted on weed block under the mulch bed and had my regular mower do the seeding out front (which I paid him to redo after the fact).

"Thanks for the review. We do not recommend weed block because it usually comes up and is unsightly. The best thing to do is maintain the beds by weeding and reapplying mulch each year. We did come back and reseed the lawn areas."

They responded quickly to my initial request, and over the first 3 days until I signed my contract and paid 50% up front. After that, and through multiple attempts, I could not get an install date from them for over two weeks. Then they finally said, "how about tomorrow?" The install guys showed up to remove old sod and install new sod without a sod cutter and told me wife they just thought they had to pull some weeds and lay sod on top. Then when she told them no, that was never the case and they need to remove the old sod first, they agreed to do it but were clearly upset and took an aggravated tone with my wife. The end product looked decent and should be fine as long as it takes. I would recommend going to Merrifield Garden Center instead. Only slightly more expensive ($600 instead of $550) but they have the business operations and customer service at a much higher level.

A slight disconnect between the people who came out to give the estimate and the people who actually did the work. "Well if I knew we were doing digging, I'd have brought the scoop with the teeth". However, very willing to help us out and did exactly what we asked. Very friendy and accomodating.

First, they did a great job working around my schedule and gave a good price. The challenge is the quality of workmanship was disappointing. I needed a concrete pad for a hot tub. The measurement was 7'x10'. The pad ended up being 7'3" by 9'9" since the frame was assembled incorrectly. The finish was horrible and, luckily covered by the hot tub. After they completed the job, I proceeded to clean up the mess that was left. There was concrete splashed on the patio pillars which I had to scrub off and backfill/concrete pieces littering the yard. If you are driving by the price this is a valid choice. If you are looking for something else, be cautious.

"We understand your concerns. Just a note on this job that made it very physically difficult. We accommodated the customers schedule with one days notice and it ended up being a mistake on our part. The work was in a backyard townhouse. The night before we had a heavy rain but to meet the customers time frame so he could get his hot tub in place we pushed forward. What this meant was we had to carry 50 bags of concrete in near 100 degrees of heat almost 150' to the backyard because the common area was too muddy to use wheelbarrows. The crew work very very hard and some minor mistakes were made on the framing which gave the customer a 3" larger pad. We understood that the pad was going to be covered with a hot tub so for the price we were not going to do the same finish for a patio."

Green Earth must have been going through a staff change because it took numerous calls to get someone to quote me the cost after examining the site. There was poor communication about the scheduling of the work and it was delayed by many weeks, threatening completion before the fall. They acknowledged the failures and were very apologetic about the whole situation. The finished product was excellent - concrete was solid and rails were tied back in cleanly.

We hired Green Earth Landscaping to install a new paver patio. From the beginning their project advisor was very courteous and helpful. We scoped out the project and they were very attentive to our budget as well. Completed quickly and very attentive to keeping the project area clean and organized. We had some stones come lose after a year and their after product warranty support was super ! They came out and fixed everything immediately ! We intend to use them again when we expand our backyard projects.

Green Earth landscaping did an excellent job. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was due to the gap in between the time the contract was signed and job being complete. Landscaping materials and their home office move were the causes of this though so I understood. Very professional local workers though

Green Earth Landscaping completed a large drainage project on my property. They worked in some confined areas and did not harm any of my trees and bushes and did not nick any of my neighbors fences, even though they used a front loader and mini-dozer. They were flexible and worked around my early scheduling issues. The only blemish was that I had to call the office each morning to determine when the crew would arrive. Each member of the crew worked hard and listened to any concerns that I had and handled them promptly. I would hire them again.

The first appointment was rescheduled but I was not notified until 3 hours after the crew was supposed to arrive. Installation went very quickly; I did not see if the soil was treated as agreed. The sod was slightly browning when installed, not terrible looking but not a lush green like our neighbors (different company). We were advised to water thoroughly every day for 2-3 weeks and have been doing so, but have seen some increased browning/dead grass and can clearly see lines between rolls. This could be due to the time of year, but it is displeasing. Better price than elsewhere, though.

While the quality of the work was very good the management side of the organization is lacking. After sending in a deposit I was requested to send in the estimate and never received an original or copy back detailing what was estimated by the person who estimated the project to be done. The estimator under estimated the size and concrete needed to complete it and failed to inform the work crew that steps would be need during the pouring of the concrete. With the project completed by the work crew buying extra concrete for the slab it still does not have the required steps.
