In the last of your four houses treated, it appears that a worker used duct tape instead of painter's tape when laying out the plastic in the music room. That would account for the issue of the painted floor finish being disturbed. Please reach out and we will work with you to resolve this issue to your satisfaction. As for the demolition of flooring in the Post & Beam house, we all agreed that there would be demolition in the vicinity of the chimney due to the faulty roof flashing and the obvious stains on the floor. The issue became just how far out from the chimney the moisture remained between the layers of flooring. There really was no choice in the matter. Rotting, moldy wood had to go. I notified your caretaker and it was my understanding that he would be providing a temporary covering in the form of plywood or something similar. The hole measured less than the size of a sheet of plywood. As you know, our time was limited by the necessity of catching the last ferry to the mainland. In any other circumstance, I'd have covered it myself. It should be further pointed out that, while the wooden bedroom ceiling in the main house showed water damage from a persistent roof leak, we chose not to remove portions of it. We made this decision for two reasons: 1) a belief that the wood was not molded and 2) recognition that a partial disturbance of this type of ceiling would likely result in the entire thing being replaced, if only for cosmetic reasons. That decision was unlike the floor in front of the chimney where one could easily imagine the replacement being in the form of a wider stone hearth, some tile, or a decorative wood that, while it might not match the existing flooring, would form a complimentary look to surround the fireplace. One last rebuttal must be made here. I am bonded through Liberty Mutual Insurance. We do not steal from our customers. I am sorry that you have misplaced some expensive pillows. We did not take them. Had pillows been placed into one of our two vehicles, I would have seen them. I personally supervised this job from start to finish. Overall, We feel that we provided an appropriate level of care and service to your four island homes. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to have rid them of mold, not just on surfaces but in the air. We are justifiably proud that the post-remediation air tests passed so convincingly.
