Gregg Construction installed the wrong color shingle. When I notified the owner of the mistake (halfway through the project) he tried to tell me that it was the color I had chosen. It was not. Since he did not write a contract up before starting the job he did not know or remember the shingle color I selected. He did not want to replace the shingles with the color that I had selected due to the additional cost to him. I insisted on a discount to compensate for the mistake. He reluctantly gave me the discount. The roof is now only 2 years old and I am already having serious problems with it. The flashing around the chimney was not installed properly and has been leaking. It went undetected until it began to come through the ceiling. There is now water damage to the support beams in the attic. I called him regarding the issue and he sent someone out to look at it. The worker said it is not the flashing leaking but, instead the chimney and that I should have the chimney inspected for leaks. I spent $125 for a chimney company to inspect the chimney for leaks. They said the chimney is not leaking and that the leak is from the flashing around the chimney. They showed me proof of this and it is obvious and should have been seen by the worker who initially came to look at the flashing. The employee said if it wasn't the chimney then they would come back and fix the flashing. However, when he went onto the roof initially to check the flashing for leaks he took caulking on the roof with him to "fix" the flashing if he found that to be the problem. I have talked to several roofing companies since and they have informed me flashing should not be repaired with caulking instead it should be removed and replaced. I also noticed when the roofing job was completed there were shingles that were not laying flat. When I asked the owner about this he said they would lay flat with time. Two years later there are still shingles that are buckled and that do not lay flat. Gregg Construction never gave me a contract therefore, I have no proof of a warranty. I contacted him again in regards to what the chimney inspectors concluded and I am waiting to hear back and to see if he is willing to fix the flashing properly, fix the buckled shingles, and compensate me for the money I spent to have the chimney inspected. At this time I would never use this company again and would not recommend them.
