"Mr. G. [Consumer name withheld at their request], We are sorry you are upset and always strive for our clients to be thrilled with their projects. It's an honor to be trusted in someone's home. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. Our experience with your project is different and we regret the misunderstanding if we did not educate enough on your project. The scratch in question is a SERIES of scratches that we INHERITED on your project from what seems to have been done by the carpet installers at the property years ago. (It appears the carpet pad was cut on the floor by the previous installers based on the pattern of scratches we noticed) When we got to your project (delayed, due to finishing a job started before yours) we discussed the scratches/damage we were inheriting with you. We explained that we would do our best to get them out as they were deeper than the wear layer. We started the project without a deposit (against our common procedure), we did an open coat and DID NOT charge you after the first coat went down and we discussed the scratch with you again (an upgrade of a few hundred dollars which we did as a customer courtesy to try to help you out), and we have internal notes in our system and employee call logs that show what was happening on your project along with our communication. Our owner, manager, and project coordinator all spoke with you about the scratches we inherited and your concerns. We were also on your jobsite. We gave you the opportunity to do board replacements and you declined that option stating you are selling the home and did not want to pay for it. Again, we want all of our clients to be satisfied with us as we operate with the utmost integrity with craftsmen we have known and trusted for years. We are sorry that the damaged floor from previous installers we inherited is not to your liking and within the budget you want to spend before selling the house. Unfortunately, we could not have foreseen this as the carpet was down until the time of install. We will use your feedback as an opportunity to learn and grow. If you'd like to have those boards replaced, we are happy to get you a quote to do so ASAP. Best wishes on your future endeavors. If there is anything we can do to make this right, please let us know!"
