Don?t be fooled by Chapter?s sleek branding or ?hassle-free? pitch. Our semi-gut reno of a 3-bed, 2.5-bath Brooklyn co-op has dragged on for a year, burning money, time, and sanity. Chapter claimed high-end services, but this was not the reality. There was minimal project management, workmanship was terrible (damaged new items, blamed ?site conditions? when they couldn?t do basic work they?d promised, had to re-do many items because quality was so poor). They missed every deadline and overshot the timeline by months. We were often forced to procure items ourselves because Chapter weren?t engaged or competent enough to do so (they even failed to purchase a one-of-a-kind marble slab we designed our bathroom around. It was sold to someone else and we were forced to redesign last minute). They gaslighted us whenever we raised concerns and pressured us to make payments when work was defective / incomplete. Beware the other glowing reviews you read.

UPDATED (January 2025): At this point, I have used Chapter on two separate instances. I originally used them for a full renovation of a 2 bed, 2 bathroom apartment in Greenwich Village, which they did an excellent job. Afterwards, my apartment had a leak in the unit above (not Chapter's fault - it was the unit above), which caused some water damage. Chapter came in a second time and was efficient in getting the work done on time and on budget. For additional context, I hired Chapter back in mid-2022 for my apartment renovation. In total, I renovated the flooring, ceiling, added new recess lighting throughout, and then brand new kitchen/bathrooms. The process was smooth and they handled my Coop board efficiently; Gabriela and Sebastian were on-site multiple days a week, which made the process smooth. I selected materials and finishes in their online portal, visited their office a few times, and monitored progress online. Once the project began, it was a ~10 week project and I had weekly check-ins. Importantly, the project was finished on-time and on-budget. Afterwards, in mid-2024, I had a leak in the unit above mine. I used Chapter to repair the ceiling, painting and replace a few damaged cabinets. This was a much shorter project, but the team was still communicative and efficient. Everything looked exactly the same as it did before the leak, so all was good. Thank you!

We just finished an almost full apartment renovation (kitchen, two baths, floors, lighting, painting) with Chapter and would recommend for a Manhattan renovation. The entire team was thoughtful and responsive, especially Nihaar and Lorena. Nihaar communicated with us throughout the process, engaging with us and helping us problem solve the quirky issues that arise during an NYC renovation. Lorena impressed us with her layouts and design to make our home functional. The contractor team made our vision come true; skilled with painting/skimming, tiles, and gave great advice. The team helped us navigate the complex process of approvals, city requirements, and more. We are happy with the outcome and would definitely recommend.

We had our Brickell condo renovated by Chapter. The renovation project included the bathroom, kitchen, and some flooring work. The results were amazing! Our new bathroom make us feel like we are in a spa, the kitchen is finally functional, and the new flooring makes everything look seamless. Chapter team was professional and detail-oriented. We worked with Irit for the design and Andres was our PM. They kept everything on schedule and within budget and kept us up to date throughout the whole process. The remodeling of our kitchen was absolutely fantastic. The contractors who worked with the project were skillful and very efficient. I'm very pleased with effectiveness and craftsmanship in doing the remodeling. Everyone was very communicative and gave great suggestions. The details were on-point and they also listen to the design we want. Everything happened smoothly with a little issues that was also fixed ahead of time. Reasonable rate as well.

My house needed a lot of work done especially our new deck and kitchen. Its been a difficult for me to hire a team which we can depend on. In any case, I didn't want to manage projects but only wanted options to be presented for me to choose what preferred design I want. Hello Chapter handles everything thoroughly and absolutely efficient which turns out to be a great outcome. Its been a great experience with them and smooth process. Both the contractor and his crew are top-notch. The project was meticulously managed from beginning to end. The work quality is extremely outstanding. We are incredibly pleased and satisfied. I love my new kitchen it is so beautiful. Eli was such a nice guy, professional, amazing and punctual of the many services he provides for my home . I normally do not do reviews , however he deserves all 5 stars for this amazing remodeling. He provided the materials and all I had to purchase was the appliances for my new kitchen . He helped with the amazing blueprint and great color scheme. My home finally feels like a home I can truly enjoy. I even hired him to design my laundry room. We used HAP Construction for a full renovation of our apartment. We were pleased to work with Eli on the the design part of our project, he was especially helpful with picking out materials that were in line (aesthetically and in budget) with our vision. He also gave us good advice on what would or not work given the lay out of our apartment.He was very responsive each time we reached out to him and he was diligent about addressing any concerns we had. The team did a great job getting us everything we needed and interacted well. After the renovation was complete we had a couple of things come up that we needed additional assistance with and HAP Construction was extremely helpful and responsive. We would gladly work with HAP again.

I recently purchased a house in downtown Brooklyn NY. I was looking for a good Constraction company to renovate the kitchen, 2 Bathrooms and flooring. I came across HAP construction and after speaking with Eli and “testing” him with a lot of questions about the renovation process (as I am doing construction my self in California) I decided to give them a chance to send me an estimate. After reviewing everything I decided to let HAP construction and Eli to renovate my new house. Most experienced and respectable builder in the city. Great to work with and true quality shown in their projects in NYC. The whole process and experience with HAP was efficient and straightforward. My home in nyc has multipled its value according to agents. It is often hard to renovate a house but HAP con earned my trust fairly quickly compared to other contractors in the past that I have consulted for minor repairs. I recommend hiring them. I hired Hap construction to renovate a family vacation home in the Hamptons. My project manager was Sacha, he was very professional and accessible during the entire project. We have renovated 2 bathrooms, installed a new vinyl flooring and painted the entire house within 45 days. I was very happy with the work and the price and already referred Hap to a few friends.
