DO NOT USE THIS BUILDER! I hired him in April to do a bonus room above my garage. I signed the contract and made a down payment in May...he has done ZERO work at this point. His voice mail is always full so you can't reach him by phone. Texts and emails are sometimes answered but often ignored - lots of false promises and "I'll call you" but never any follow through. I canceled my contract and asked for a refund in late August...he eventually responded and offered to do the job at cost if I would give him another chance. Foolishly I accepted, and another month passed with more excuses. I canceled a second time and asked for a full refund since no work had been done - he replied that he was waiting on new designs for the trusses, but would just refund my money. That was on September 30th. I have tried twice to send a certified letter to his home but no one is ever there to sign for it. I sent a text on October 14th to let him know that I would be proceeding with legal action to get my money back - he picked up the text shortly after I sent it, but as of today (the 18th) I have gotten no response. I am angry and frustrated, and not very hopeful that I'll ever get my $5800 back, but I want to prevent anyone else from going through this.

We hired Hawke to remodel our basement in December 2015. The project included adding a bathroom, bedroom & family room. The project was to take 2 months. It started well. Michael Henry, the owner seemed competent and attentive. This changed over the coming months. He missed multiple deadlines. The quality of the job was second rate. Our contract, which he never signed, called for him to get any necessary permits. I can find no record of any electrical or plumbing permits for the job. Also his contractor's license expired on 6/17/16. He continued to work after that date. Our final communication with him was on 7/18/16. He promised to finish the job that week. He never showed up despite repeated attempts to contact him. He still owes us over $2,500 worth of doors which we paid for in advance. I would not recommend Hawke Services to anyone.

I hired this pro to rebuild a deck for me. There were a lot of issues with the service. He was supposed to use new lumber, but reused the old, rotting lumber. He didn't center the posts on the footings. He wouldn't clean up after himself. He wouldn't respond to my texts, and when I called him, his voicemail was full.

3 Projects 1. Leveling of an old mud room extension 2. Remodeling the upstairs bathroom 3. Remodeling the downstairs bathroom When we first talked with Mike about the work we wanted done, we were happy with his prompt communication and with the price quotes he had given us. Since it was early spring, I wanted to get in on his work schedule as soon as possible, so I made the mistake of paying him the requested 30% of the total projects cost as a down payment. When it came time to start working on our projects, I still had some issues regarding the wording on the scope of the work to be done and the cost for each project. I did not sign the contract with Mike because I wasn't comfortable with a couple small discrepancies. Regardless, on the scheduled start day, Mike came over with two other individuals and started working on the smallest of the projects (re-leveling a small mud room extension on the house). Mike obviously realized that we didn't have a signed contract, so before moving on to our 2nd project (Upstairs bathroom remodel) I incorrectly assumed that as a professional contractor, he would address the issue of the contract needing to be signed ... this too was not the case. Before I could even comment on concerns I had about the work that had been done on the re-leveling of the mud room, he and another worker had already went to the upstairs bathroom and started demoing it. Initially we were just going to be removing the old linen closet and putting a small stand-alone shower in its place. Long story short, it wasn't going to function properly (which should have been figured out by Mike before moving forward with the project to begin with) and forced my wife and I to come up with a new game plan (at this point our bathroom wall had been mostly removed and our linen closet demoed). To Mikes credit, at the beginning of this whole process he was instilling confidence in us by stating that he had no problem pulling permits for everything, but at the same time he would give us/me the impression that if we had him apply for permits and the city came out to inspect, they may just: 1. Force us to tear down the whole Mud Room addition that we were having re-leveled. 2. Notice wiring or other issues in areas they WERE NOT working on and possibly force us to fix those problems as well. So, as you can imagine, hearing such talk and being fully uninformed of the actual Permit Process at the time, you can see how this can quickly scare someone into agreeing not to go and apply for the proper permits. After a few weeks of supplies not being ready at the start of the day and having contracted workers show up at your house in the morning, but with no work being done (because supplies were not delivered), it reached the point where I had to personally call both the State and City building departments and find out for myself what the process was when it came to applying for and being approved for various building permits. Before the start of p

I had a very hard time communicating with this contractor, not so much in person as thru emails. It was hard to remember all questions when he was on site because he was not on site very often. A lot of my questions through email were never answered, no matter how many times I would ask. This contractor promises things he does not deliver. Make sure you know what short cuts he is doing, Also, make sure he gives you a invoice on what your money has been spent on. Asked multiple times for an invoice but to this day have not receive one.
