The team at HC Construction & Grading took on a major and challenging grading project at our mountain home in Dahlonega. We had several other companies come and look at the work and most were either asking a ridiculous price or afraid to take on the job. Once we hired HC they communicated very well and showed up when they said each week until the project was finished. The final results are better than we had imagined and we credit HC with seeing a better solution and executing it.

The retaining wall looks great and all my neighbors agree. We were not home during the 4 day project but were kept abreast of the installation. Our neighbors said it looked like a bomb went off with the tearing out of old wall, the materials, the equipment etc but after 4 days you'd never know they were even there except we had a beautiful new wall. They went above and beyond ensuring the surrounding area looked fantastic. Would highly recommend them for their quality work.

Stay away from this company. Hired them 7 years ago to replace a shingle roof with a metal roof. Had a few leaks that were due to what we thought were screws popping out. When a significant leak appeared in 2020, we contacted them to find out what the problem was and they came out to fix the issue. The owner stated that the roof was improperly installed but that he fixed the issue 100%. Two weeks later, had massive leaks in new places. Contacted several different roofing companies for estimates all of which stated they have NEVER seen such a botched job. Nothing was put between the metal and the plywood causing major moisture issues, screws were put in on top of old washers that cracked allowing water to come in, flashing was missing ALL OVER THE ROOF causing water to penetrate thru into the house. Screws were completely missing where they just left holes, screws were screwed in sideways at an angle allowing water through. The metal roofing was cut too short to where the water did not even reach the gutters causing water to run down behind the gutter rotting the facia boards away and the strips to attach the metal to the plywood were not even screwed into the rafters of the roof so they were completely loose. I tried to give them the opportunity to fix the problems and to consult with another roofer about the issues going on and he refused and said to take him to court. A judgment has been issued against him and has been told that they have done this to several people where we live. I would highly advise not hiring them for anything unless you want to have to pay for it to be redone again.

Great communication. Although it was the rainiest year so far, when we had a 4 day reprieve, they were out there laying new driveway. They communicated when an unexpected situation came up and worked to resolve with for a reasonable expense. Will be using for grading landscaping again soon.

Initial work was very good then scheduled follow up for further service, they dropped off the map. missed appts, no return calls, texts or emails. Not sure the issue, I am not aware we did anything wrong... Last correspondence was cordial!

SUMMARY of Garage Drywall Project done by HC Construction & Grading LLC company The people were not trained drywall people. Three of the four workers had never hung drywall and two of them were new with the company. When they first started the job, the drywall T Square was brand new and no one knew how to operate the drywall lift. The holes cut in the drywall for the electrical boxes were cut too large and not exactly where they should have been in the sheet of drywall. The drywall finisher had to “mud” some of the electrical box holes to close them up. In places along the south wall the gaps between the drywall sheets were about ½+ inches wide and had to be closed with “mud”. The drywall finisher left a mess that he did not clean up and the other crew had to do the clean up (we were not told what the agreement was between the HC Construction & Grading LLC company and the drywall finisher). The crew was inefficient and did not get a lot done on days that the project leader or owner was not with them. The 2 guys sent by themselves to put the primer and first coat of paint on the ceiling, walls and 4X6 baseboard did not prime more than 2/3s of the baseboard. This along with a poor primer and first coat of paint on the ceiling, walls and baseboard ended up requiring a 3rd coat of paint on everything. When the crew was finishing up and trying to put eye bolts into studs behind the new drywall to hold bungee cords that hold our 3 ladders against the wall, the person using the stud finder did not know how to use it to find the studs. We have to fill and touch up the paint on 7 extra ¼ inch holes in the wall. I would rate the job at 2.5 out of 5 points. The cost turned out about 25% above the estimate. Part of this was because of a “quick job” of looking over the garage before making the estimate (the “deadwood” in the back of the garage was in the wrong place on the back wall. This was not this contractor’s fault, but should have been found during the estimate review. The owner of the company said he would come back to the job to check it out with us. He never came back to check out the progress or the quality of the final product. On the last day of his people finishing up the project. He emailed us a revised bill (we had already paid him 55% of the original estimate) and asked that we send the check for the balance with his project leader. We disagreed with him on one of his additional labor cost items and he agreed to cut that item in half (2 of his 4 people were standing around doing nothing when this labor item was being worked on). We paid them in order to close the project! When we were talking with the owner during our phone interview concerning his company, he kept telling me that they had the ability to"€œdo it all"€.

I was very impressed with the finished product. I had this company just pour and finish my 30 x 60 slab. I put dirt in, leveled it and formed it, and put wire in middle and re-bar around the sides. I was worried they didn't have enough help, just 3 people. They worked well together and knew what to do. The surface was very smooth I have never seen concrete finished too smooth. I will use them again.

They are pros they come get to work first class and do a fantastic job at a great price.We will use them again.

The owners were very professional, prompt and in general great with which to work . Could not have asked for better service. Will definitely hire them again!!!

This group did good work, there was a problem with a burn hole that did not get closed causing some of the grass seed and straw to burn off, but the team came back out and reseaded the area promptly, recommend them and will use them again.
