To: Hambleton Handyman August 17, 2022 It has been three weeks since your company completed installation of so-called beadboard ceiling on my porch ceiling. Two days after being painted at a cost of $960.00 the paneling began to warp, bubble and separate from the ceiling. Every day since it looks worse and worse. The last time I saw Paddy Salmon (About ten days ago) Paddy told me he would find a way to make things right. Well, nothing is right. I would like to know who in your organization thought it was a good idea to use 3/16 inch low density fiberboard for my project. Whomever he/she is he/she should be fired. But at this point, I do note care. I wanted my project done to increase the value of my property. Instead, the work your company did has significantly decreased the value of my house. I paid you $5,010.37 for materials and $7,252.00 for labor plus $894.00 to have the ceiling painted (wasted) and $120.00 to reinstall lighting (wasted). I demand that you remove the 3/16 inch fiberboard crap and return the small fortune I paid amounting to $13,276.37. Should you refuse to meet my demands, I will see you in court. As a side note, your invoicing methodology is fundamentally flawed and amateurish. More on this latter. General Manager Tommy Salmon comes to my house on Saturday August 20, 2022. He agreed to remove the fiberboard ceiling and replace it with another material but ONLY the material of his choice On Monday August 22nd I wrote to Tommy. I appreciate you coming by to discuss our porch ceiling issue however the material you proposed however that material would cost me over another $7,000.00+ in cost which exceeds my budget. If you would use the 14 Sq. ft. Knotty Spruce/Pine Beaded Planks (6-Pack) 13852 for $32.43 per pack available at Home Depot and The BuildClub, we can continue to attempt to reach a final solution to our issues.. Contingent to any final agreement I would require refund of all expenses spent due to your company*s mistakes including ALL labor involved including hours shopping for, buying and returning material and the cost of paint. I would also require that you reimburse me for the cost of painting the ceiling in the amount of $840.00 and the cost to reinstall ceiling lighting in the amount of $120.00. If we cannot arrive at a mutually agreeable settlement I will do whatever I must. Days later I heard from James Salman telling me that they were having meetings to decide what to do to resolve their problem issues. Then James wrote again telling me that someone would come out to reveal their solution. Then a fellow named Tim showed up. He proposed using a solid wood product to replace the fiberboard paneling. All would have to do is pay for the new material and they would credit to my account the cost of the original fiberboard material. I reluctantly agreed. A week later Paddy returned to do the work. Three weeks later Paddy and an occasional assistant had removed the old fiberboard and started to install the new material. That was three weeks of constant banging and scraping of adhesive. There is a reason why trial lawyers sue for emotional distress because it is real. Another three weeks of adhesive removal and banging as Paddy installed the new material while a fellow followed behind painting. Days later Paddy was done but he argued with the painter due to the poor quality of his work. The painter had not done a good job and left painted blotches all over my recently stained porch floor. The painter disappeared and its my understanding the was fired. God help those who actually had to pay $110.00 for his work earlier. Paddy then spent another three days finishing painting the ceiling and cleaning the paint from the porch floor. The porch floor had been ruined. At the end of this horror story, I know I was cheated and I know the project cost me thousands of dollars more than it should have.

My living room has been completely transformed thanks to Kevin at Hambleton Handyman. Professional, knowledgable, and courteous. Kevin was always happy to discuss any aspects of the project and his methods- I learned a lot! The ceiling had multiple issues of water damage and this godawful tile. It was fixed and replaced with a beautiful ceiling with recessed LEDs on a couple of dimmer switches. The trim had been installed improperly so Kevin replaced it and it looks immaculate. Multiple cracked walls above windows and thresh holds were fixed before painting the walls and ceilings. My 1952 living room now looks like a new condo. The envy of everyone who visits. Further, OUTDOOR my tankless water heater was a fire hazard as it was incorrectly put in a wooden/tin box... when removed, Kevin found the reason was that the wall behind it was wide open from when they had installed the plumbing. Kevin fixed the wall and the removed the fire hazard. Also, small leak in my siding: fixed. While Kevin was working on the living room, I had an issue with our microwave and it's outlet. Kevin found they had DIY'ed the outlet incorrectly and left a LIVE WIRE INSIDE MY WALL. Kevin fixed the issue and even remounted my cabinet to fit our new, larger microwave. That's the thing people must understand about quotes and projects. Especially in older houses, unforeseen problems can show up and cause the quote to go up. In the end, we came in about twice over the initial quote. But Kevin was 100% transparent through the process and offered ways to save money if we needed to. Also, while they are here you will think of little things to add to their job- Kevin accepted EVERY request without a hint of bother. And when I asked them to return to touch up some VERY small paint problems-- they were here immediately, for free, with no complaint whatsoever. That said, they offer the same service to everyone so it can cause delays. Kevin saved my family's life TWICE: literally.

I am very happy to have found Hambleton Handyman. Everyone I worked with, from the office staff to the workers, was very easy to work with, very considerate and very helpful. Tod Walchenbach and Jorge Martinez were very conscientious and hard workers. They paid great attention to detail and made some excellent recommendations to make the finished product even better. I will definitely ask for them the next time I need any work.

Hambleton Handyman provides efficient, knowledgeable, and professional service. Technician, Kevin Thomas, arrived on time, and provided detailed information on what will be done and approximate timeframe. He worked quickly and provided before and after pictures of the work done. We had four repair jobs and he finished them in excellent time. The rates provided were fair and reasonable. We would highly recommend Hambleton Handyman services for your handyman needs! Thank you for all your help!

I hired Hambleton Handyman to do the upgrade of my three bathrooms (two full and one half bathroom). I used a handyman who had certified plumbers because I did not want a bathroom "remodeler" who did not know how to work with the C-PVC piping in my 23 yr old townhouse. Hambleton sent one man to do the job (Doug) who showed up everyday on time and did a marvelous job in gutting my existing bathrooms (flooring, tile, vanities, mirrors) and installing all new (only thing I kept was the bath tub in the guest bathroom because it was in good condition and the shower in the master bathroom since I had had this upgrade earlier). Doug not only did an amazing job, he also made sure my bathrooms were up to code - he added shut-off valves for the bathtub and GFTI switches in the bathrooms where they were missing. I was also very happy that Hambleton recommended an interior designer (FTC Interiors) who help me select everything from tile to vanities to flooring to paint colors to mirrors and new toilet paper holders. Hambleton worked well with the interior designer in making sure everything was done right. I also want to mention that there is a point at the end of a project where the scheduling gets interesting - after Doug got the vanities installed, we had to wait for the granite guys to come measure and then install the granite vanity tops before Doug could come back and install the mirrors and hand towel holders. Hambleton worked with me to make this work even though the last piece of work got done after this coronavirus quarantine had started. One last thing - when you are getting all of your bathrooms remodeled at once, you have to make sure that you don't get so ambitious that you forget to leave yourself with a working sink and toilet. Doug made sure that I never had to go without! My bathrooms are beautiful and I am so pleased.

Requested repair for the a small ding in my drywall online. Received a call to verify what I needed done. Can you believe that the guy showed up only to leave my home for Lowes to purchase a bucket and the mix. Did I mention that the clock was still running while he was out shopping.Needless to say, that trip ate up most of the hour. I was told the $180 is the total cost for the first hour but I had to pay the guy an additional $18 for supplies. Good work but they need to be a bit more clear upfront about process and costs.
