Hammocks AC is family owned and operated. We are your trusted residential and light commercial heating and air contractor, who serves the greater north metro Atlanta area. We strive for perfection and customer satisfaction in every job we touch. We're not comfortable till you are! It's our statement and we live by that every day. We won't stop until we achieve your complete satisfaction.

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I liked the technical challenge and found I had a talent for it. I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, graduated in 1996 from Universal Technical Institute in Chicago, and just after that moved to Atlanta. I came to Tim, the previous owner, 13 years ago, having already owned a company before and with more than 20 years' experience in the HVAC service industry. We formed a great friendship and partnership. I worked the service side and Tim worked the installation side. Tim began talking to me about taking over for him in 2015, and in August of 2016 we signed an agreement and made it official. We should have had ten years for the transition, but life saw otherwise. We lost Tim unexpectedly on June 24th of last year. Part of our agreement was to keep the Hammock's name, and I would have it no other way...

The install of my AC unit went very well and only took a few hours, so it was done relatively quickly. It was a pretty simple install, and they discarded the old unit. The guys who installed the AC unit were professional, helpful, and respectful of the property.

The Hammock Team recently came to my home and replaced Both HVAC systems with new up-to-date Rheem Systems. Four guys (Giovanny, Jose, Juan, and Dmitriy) showed up at around 10 am and at about 4 pm had completely removed the old systems and installed the new ones. They were courteous, very responsive, worked in a clean work area, were very helpful, and performed a very high-quality job. I appreciate all Kenny, owner, does to take care of his customers and sends out a quality team to do so! Thanks a Million!!!

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
