I was very pleased with Handyman Matters and the contractor I selected. I interviewed three contractors and selected the one who's experience best matched my job requirements. He explained the work required, how he would accomplish it, and what I could expect regarding results, time to do the job, and total charges. He and his crew arrived on time, and completed the work as promised, within budget and very much to my satisfaction. I am very pleased and would use Handyman Matters without hesitation.

I am writing a review of Handyman Matters, a company I hired to remodel my 5x7 foot bathroom. It was a throwback to the 50�s with pink and gray tile and a pink tub. Handyman Matters was one of 4 companies I spoke with when I was planning the project and deciding on what I could afford to pay. One company gave me an estimate of $1800, which I felt was very low. Joe, the Handyman Matters employee, a giant of a man, came and gave me the very detailed estimate below. H seemed to have a good handle on what it would take to do the remodel and I knew I could save money on his hourly rate by helping with some of the work, so I hired Handyman Matter

Positives: 1) Final result was good. Ken, working on the property, did a good job. Negatives: A number of negatives. 1) The agreed contract originally specified electrical work involving moving two electrical sockets from the floor to wall. When I decided to pull town permit it turned out that HM did not have permit to do electrical work. 2) Sales person, Sanjay, was evidently quite annoyed that we had asked for a permit at the village mentioning that permit was not needed and town just wanted our money. 3) Took more than 1.5 months to finish the job where house was quite messy. 4) Constantly trying to increase price while ongoing work

My job was done very well and as scheduled. When confirming with the workman regarding paperwork for the job performed and time spent and that wasn't there anything for me to sign, I was told it wasn't necessary. He just wanted to get on his way. This did not sit well with me and I proceeded to call the office of HM before letting the workman leave my property. Also I wanted to pay my agreed upon bill and the workman did not want to accept payment. Again I was told I would be billed. This was not previously explained to me. I did not want any surprises and wanted to pay for the job done. The workman did not like this delay. Aggrivating.

They charge a per hour fee. Difficult to estimate project cost. No incentive to finish project fast. You never know how much you will end up paying. Record keeping not too good. I was being overcharged for materials and sales taxes. Be aware of 22% mark up on materials. The individual doing the work was nice and very polite, however, common sense was lacking. He cut tiles inside the bathroom and the dust was covering every inch of it. Caulking was done poorly and caulk was not clean up from shower door frame.

Exterior Surfaces - Powerwashing
They were great. They moved all items that were close to the house, layed them down carefully, and then placed everything back. In addition, I had items hanging out on the line, it was a windy day and clothes fell off. I came home to find that they picked up the clothes, and secured the clothes line. GREAT JOB guys!

I think the Customer Service/Follow up is great. However, the quality of worker still needs improvement. The job got done but it seemed they lacked organization. It is important to stick close to a given quote.
