I hired DJ Collins/Harrison Handyman to do a major re-model and what ensued was a total nightmare. I gave him many chances to correct mistakes and prove his character is trustworthy. My mistake with Collins was allowing too many chances. I wanted to believe his excuses. I ignored clues, learned after work started, that he can't be trusted. He has a prior business bankruptcy which was not disclosed by Home Advisor, uses an alias instead of real legal name, repeatedly tried to charge me for labor and materials for them repairing their own mistakes, dragged out the contracted work over several months while I waited patiently at the house, often hid/failed to disclose substandard work (i.e., doors won't close, shutters hung upside down, new holes in walls) or actual damage (see below) until I discovered it days later, and failed to honor warranty (i.e., cement porch surface bubbled up horribly because paint not properly applied). I must hire a new contractor to repair damage and do things like paint ceiling around light-fixture, counter bottoms and ends of trim, re-hang microwave so it's level, secure, and drywall not exposed ¾ inch below it. I could go on. One example of damage: They installed new tile and hardwood floor covering throughout the house before all or part of the work was done on bathrooms, kitchen and painting. They didn't cover new floors while workers came and went and trampled on it for days. Collins literally turned over a used floor to me instead of the expensive new one. The new gray bamboo hardwood and tile looked 20 yrs. old. When I insisted he fix the floor damage, Collins promised he'd research the proper way to do it. He didn't because he had a worker apply wax commonly known to be bad for hardwood!!! The waxed surface scratches easily and scuffs. Heartbreaking. I asked Collins for the Home Depot invoice for the hardwood flooring, but he ignored that request & told me he is "done with the floor", even the paint spills and dirty bathroom tile grout. After that, I asked him for help when I discovered some furnishings they had removed were missing from my house. Instead of helping, he had an odd, overly defensive reaction, I thought. At that point, my patience and health had worn out. The above is my opinion based on my personal experience. BTW, I am peer-rated with the highest rank for ethical standards and I have pictures and witnesses.

"First, none of this is accurate at all except it was a nightmare! Bankruptcy has nothing to do with this and is private information regarding another business altogether that my name just happen to be on(recommend getting all your facts before slandering a business). All the changes that were made on this job quickly turned into an hourly project. Customer gave us an unreasonable amount of time to complete all the changes she had made and threatened not to pay if i didn't. So i sent all my guys over to work 12+ hour days to get the job completed. After her threatened completion date i attempted to be nice and complete some things to satisfy the customer for free. Keep in mind that this was an hourly project. This list were endless and it was apparent that she was never gonna be satisfied or understand that it was an hourly job and her timeline of completion was ridiculous. She rushed us out the door and that is the type of work she received, was rushed. Lots of small things that need to be done but i cant keep going back when she is never going to understand or be satisfied. As far as "furnishings" and me getting defensive... She accused me and my guys of stealing them and was going to file a police report. She ask for all the guys information to put down as suspects. This was the actual point of no return for me and my team. We are not thief's and and i have an entire town that can vouch for that. BTW, I am very well known and like in the community. Well involved, well trusted. I also have pictures and witnesses."

WARNING. Do not use Harrison Handyman. I hired DJ and company to replace windows. DJ (owner) miss measured all the windows then had his crew install them by filling in with wood planks. I was left with holes and gaps.I fired him on the spot. DJ lied and tired to cover up his mistakes.
Response from Harrison Handyman
"Customer lives out of town and tried doing something for his girlfriend. She didn't like windows and doesn't understand carpentry work. If we would have finished she would have never noticed any of the "holes" shes says was there as it was gaps that were filled just as in any remodel work. They do not pay there bills and stiffed me on previous work as well. I would be more than willing to show all my work that i have completed, including window installs. There is much more to the story and hope that because of one customer this would not affect using us. I bend over backwards to make customers happy, but this couple can not be made happy."
