Edward Hernandez of Hernandez Construction started our remodel in May of 2017. It is now Mid July of 2018 and our project is still not completed. Edward took our money to buy materials because his truck broke down and disappeared for 4+ months. He promises us he will come work and doesn't show up. He sends his son who is inexperienced (nice kid) but doesn't really know what to do and then he goes dark on us again after Josh shows up and does a minor task that doesn't cost him any money. He took our money for new insulation in the attic and never did the work - it's summer and our house is melting hot. It's obviously our fault for trusting him but others need to know about this guy. He rarely shows up for the job and when he does he usually does the work in a big rush incorrectly and sends his son back to fix the job incorrectly again. He will typically show up early and then go to Home Depot as he always "forgets" his tools and comes unprepared. After an hour or so being at "Home Depot" he comes back and checks in with his son and then slips out before actually doing any work. Edward doesn't answer phone calls or texts anymore and has not paid the cabinet maker who is now calling us for payment (we have a large Hood Vent that has been missing for 9 months). He installed a gas line incorrectly which costs us a lot of money to have a certified plumber come out and fix it after the gas company red tagged us and it turns out he even did that the wrong way because it now has to be moved again to fit the refrigerator. I am a commercial broker who have lots of people calling us for referrals. Stay away from Hernandez Construction. Edward is relentless to get paid up front and VERY persistent. Do not pay him until he is completely done with the job or save yourself a lot of headache and hire someone else. He is very timely at first and comes in and demolishes everything and then goes dark while you stare at your demolished property begging him to come back.
