I feel bad about giving Hill Roofing a negative review, but I am afraid that I have had a very disappointing experience, and I understand that the point of these reviews is to tell the truth. I am now preparing to file a complaint with the state agency that licenses this company. The complaint sets forth two serious problems. First, the company's employee lied to us after we reported major and repeated problems (i.e., leaks) with the new roof that the company installed. The employee claimed to have determined, by performing a certain test, that the problem was not with the roof. We caught him in a bald-faced lie about this claim; he had not even shown up at our house at the time that the owner of the company (relying on the employee's statement to him) told us that the employee had performed the test and had proved that the problem was not due to the roof. (I was waiting at the house for the employee, which is how I knew that someone had lied.) Although the owner commendably admitted to us that his employee had lied to him, the owner did not seem to think that this entitled us to any redress from the company. Second, after we hired a second company to test the roof (the company found that Hill Roofing had screwed up) and asked for a refund, the owner (after denying responsibility, criticizing the second company, and so on) offered us $2000 to resolve our dispute. After we accepted the offer, the company has ignored all our communications asking when we'll be getting the refund. We have not received the refund. For these two reasons, I cannot recommend this company to anyone. The company has wasted many hours of our precious time. We paid about $11,000 for a new roof that, so far as I can tell, was great at leaking. It caused lots of problems for our family, and it was the last straw that led us to decide to sell our house to a developer (which was not so bad, though I would rather have done so before spending about $11,000 on a useless new roof).

"We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. We completed your roof installation as per the published GAF manufacturer?s guidelines. We completed two water tests on your home ? one by our crew when your wife was home, and one by Mr. Hill. Both times, we had someone outside and inside to monitor for any leaks and found no leaking. We also had our GAF Regional Representative visit your home with you in attendance and he certified that the roof is installed correctly and that there are no defects in the material. He offered you a GAF credit of $1,000.00. You have since sold your house to a developer that will tear it down and build something else on the property. We do quality installations as evidenced by being in business for over 40 years and wish you luck in your new home."

I had my 25 year old roof replaced, four new skylights installed, and my gutters repaired. Sales rep. Mr. Joe Murden was great in explaining the entire process in detail and answering all my questions. The crew showed up on time and worked quickly. They also did a good job of cleaning up everything. I appreciated the attention to details specific to my house that necessitated some creative solutions for two of the skylights and the roof on my porch. I was looking for quality work at a fair price and I believe they delivered. I'd call Hill Roofing again without hesitation.

I had a new roof installed, due to age. However Hill Roofing Assessor informed me I had some hail damage, which we were unaware of. Therefore we could put in a claim on our insurance. Also he recommended some structural changes that improved ventilation. As well as a chimney design to compliment the new roof. We contracted with them and the office was great, set-up timeline for new roof. Came on time with a well organized crew, did a beautiful roof in one day, cleaned up, arranged for gutters to be installed and again came back and asked if -- we were satisfied? I recommend Hill Roofing highly. Also we used them again, when that same roof sustained wind damage with a limb falling on it, causing a hole in the roof. This worried us -- due to rain predicted. They came right out and fixed in a small amount of time. Zach, Pablo and crew did an excellent job. Both jobs were very reasonably priced.. If you want a quality job -contract with Hill Roofing. They are the best!!!

I called them to get quotes for roof replacement and new siding. After several quotes from their competitors, we decided to go with Hill Roofing for 2 main reasons. 1. The sales representative Doug Miles was amazing. He was attentive to our needs, very responsive and really worked with us to earn our business. Customer service was incredible! 2. They had the most reasonable quotes that came in significantlylower than the other 5 companies we talked to. I don't usually write reviews, but if your considering getting major work done to your home, call them and ask specifically for Doug Miles. I can't say enough good things about these guys. Btw, my roof (over 20yrs old) has been something I've been worried about for years but I have been hesitant about making that leap to replace since I had heard so many horror stories. It had taken some storm damage fall of 2019 and from what I read I knew I had to get things started. I did get a few other estimates and did some research before I selected Hill - lots of good reviews & estimate was among the lowest. Doug M. was the Hill rep who came out to look at the roof and advised me how to work things out with my homeowner insurance agency. Definitely the right move to work with the roofer on a plan before you call insurance company. Doug was awesome, he talked me through all the ups and downs w/ roofing projects, shingle types, what the warranties actually get you, etc. as well as how insurance agencies work (bonus - he used to be an adjuster). Everything worked exactly as he said. My agency is pretty stringent (one of the largest) but they looked through Doug's estimate and covered everything (minus my deductible) , they simply mailed me a check. Doug said he's never seen that before! I attribute that to Doug's advice in my discussions w/ their adjuster when he came out. Btw, my deductible was a little higher than usual, and Doug helped me figure out how to plan that into the estimate. Totally fantastic. Edwin was the Hill project manager who got in touch with me as soon as I informed Doug I got the check and was ready to go. Edwin was great too, really professional & knew his stuff. Had a snafu with the delivery due to my work schedule, but he worked it out quickly. He was there with me all the way and did the walk through once it was done. Very quick to respond and addressed a few issues immediately - got them all fixed. I am still amazed how fast these guys can remove and replace a roof. Workmanship was great, Edwin was able to show me some close-ups on a few key areas and it all looked good. They cleaned up all the scraps from the yard at the end, very thorough. Hill and GAF ( the shingle manufacturer) have excellent warranty plans, & Doug worked it so that they compliment each other for maximum coverage over the longest term. Totally recommend using Hill.

In October 2019 I decided to search for and hire a contractor to replace the roof on my home. As in my past home projects I seek out and request interviews, site visits, and estimates, from between 5-6 contractors. For my roof it was 6 contractors. After all interviews and after receiving all proposals I selected Hill Roofing Corporation of Manassas. The primary reason I selected Hill Roofing was the manner in which Les Hill discussed with me how his company worked and every aspect and step in how they would remove my current roof, how they would inspect my roof, and then replace my roof with the best products required to complete the job. I was impressed with all aspects from advising us to leave for the day because of excessive roof noise, to how everyone cleaned up, through to the finished job. The roof removal and replacement was completed the last week of December 2019. I would highly recommend anyone seeking a new roof, or other home exterior service, to include Hill Roofing in your search, I found their integrity, workmanship, and final cost exceptional! Tom S.

Hill Roofing was pleasant to deal with, professional at all moments of contact, and made the process of replacing our roof go smoothly and easily. The entire project was done in a day, from delivery of materials through cleanup of the property. The roof looks great, and got put to the test with high winds and heavy rain within the first 48 hours: dry as a bone.
